Barkley, the team\u2019s second overall pick in 2018, capped off a stellar day with 164 rushing yards for 18 carries and one touchdown. He also recorded 30 receiving yards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe got the best back in the league, and he showed it today,\u201d Barkley\u2019s teammate, wide receiver Sterling Shepard, said postgame. \u201cThere\u2019s nothing else to be said.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Barkley entered his fifth year in the league by putting everyone on notice, two seasons removed from a torn ACL. During an August appearance <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Jwah03\/status\/1562084758854705153?s=20&amp;t=qrsrMUWyybFV11mfZF_kqw\">on the \u201c2nd Wind\u201d podcast<\/a>, Barkley remarked that he was \u201cready to go crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast year was more like, \u2018Dang, the game was taken away from me.\u2019 I never had a season where I didn\u2019t go and play football,\u201d he said. \u201cNow, it\u2019s a kill mindset. Now it\u2019s like, you know what? F\u2014k everybody. Though the two have kept much of their relationship under wraps, Barkley <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.giants.com\/news\/saquon-barkley-penn-state-university-graduate-college-nittany-lions\">told the Giants\u2019 official website<\/a> in May how she encouraged him to pursue his undergraduate degree from Penn State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy parents [Alibay Barkley and Tonya Johnson] pushed me to accomplish it, Anna [Congdon, his longtime girlfriend] pushed me to accomplish it,\u201d said Barkley, who took two courses in order to meet the requirements needed for a communications degree.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was easy. It was online.
