Binance is a notable exception, as it withdrew from the association in April to lobby Congress on its own. The association\u2019s stated aim is \u201cto educate policymakers, courts, law enforcement, and the public about crypto networks[,] ledgers and the need for regulatory clarity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Association director Kristin Smith said in a tweet: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cBA PAC is a bat signal for lawmakers: crypto is here for good and we will support candidates who share that vision.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Smith promised a nonpartisan selection process for the pro-crypto candidates the Blockchain Association will support.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">2\/ BA PAC will leverage the full might of the crypto industry to support pro-crypto candidates.<\/p>\n<p>This is a natural step for a growing industry, and the PAC will mirror the POV of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BlockchainAssn?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@BlockchainAssn<\/a> as it identifies candidates to support as they seek office or re-election.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Kristin Smith (@KMSmithDC) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KMSmithDC\/status\/1569367265111412741?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 12, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Information on lobbying tracker Open Secret indicates that Blockchain Association has <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/Lobby\/clientsum.php?id=D000083182&amp;year=2022\">spent<\/a> $930,000 on lobbying already this year, engaging at least three lobbying firms to assist it. In addition, Blockchain Association individual members or employees or owners, and those individuals&#8217; im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>te family members <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/orgs\/blockchain-assn\/summary?id=D000083182\">made<\/a> $104,500 in political contributions, with $8,500 going to the National Republican Congressional Committee and several legislators from both parties receiving $5,800 each. <\/p>\n<p>According to a Bloomberg analysis, crypto industry donors <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-09-12\/trade-group-for-circle-kraken-debuts-political-action-committee?sref=323RPL5z\">gave<\/a> $72.8 million in contributions to \u201cfederal candidates and committees\u201d between January 2021 and the end of July 2022. That sum considerably exceeded contributions made by the oil &amp; gas, transportation and defense sectors. <\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: Crypto-focused PAC has used $9M to support Democratic candidates since January<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Venture capitalists Digital Currency Group <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/lda.senate.gov\/filings\/public\/filing\/0e355120-f2a1-49d6-a122-edbbc9887ee3\/print\/\">registered<\/a> as a lobbying group in July.
