In 1997, Clinton named Yellen to  the White House\u00a0Council of Economic Advisers.<\/p>\n<p>In January 1998, it was revealed that Clinton had been carrying on a years-long affair with Lewinsky, a young White House intern.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, the president denied having \u201csexual relations\u201d with the then-25-year-old intern. He then expanded his probe into the Lewinsky matter, during which he learned that Clinton lied under oath about his dalliances with the intern.<\/p>\n<p>Starr died on Tuesday at a Houston hospital. She then served on Clinton\u2019s Council of Economic Advisers.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">AFP via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In an effort to mitigate the political fallout from the scandal, the White House asked \u201ceveryone \u2014 particularly female officials \u2014 to go before the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> gathered outside the West Wing and publicly defend him,\u201d according to Ullmann.<\/p>\n<p>The author writes that Yellen wanted no part of advocating on Clinton\u2019s behalf to the press.
