The event, held at the\u00a0<strong>Wallis Annenberg Center for\u00a0the Performing Arts<\/strong> in Beverly Hills, featured Chrissy speaking to an audience of fans and attendees. And she delivered a very strong message.<\/p>\n<p>She first re-hashed the difficult decision she and Legend made regarding that pregnancy. Explaining candidly that she wouldn\u2019t have survived had the pregnancy been taken to term, Chrissy said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cTwo years ago, when I was pregnant with Jack, John and my third child, I had to make a lot of difficult and heartbreaking decisions. It became very clear around halfway through that he would not survive, and that I wouldn\u2019t either without any medical intervention.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>And she continued, explaining that it was hard for her to come to terms with the procedure for months afterwards:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cLet\u2019s just call it what it was: It was an abortion. An abortion to save my life for a baby that had absolutely no chance. And to be honest, I never, ever put that together until, actually, a few months ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"highlight\">OMG.<\/p>\n<p>The gravity of this tough situation cannot be understated.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, it was all so serious \u2014 and so potentially deadly \u2014 that the\u00a0<em>Lip Sync Battle<\/em> star never considered the pregnancy loss to be an abortion until recently. As she told the rapt audience, the <strong>Supreme Court<\/strong>\u2018s decision to overturn\u00a0<i>Roe v. Wade<\/i> several months ago pushed her and John to discuss it on a deeper level.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube<\/a>r Forced To Carry Dead Fetus For Weeks After Miscarriage Due To Abortion Laws<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When they did so, and started speaking about the women nationwide affected by abortion, she realized she was \u201cone of them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chrissy said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI fell silent, feeling weird that I hadn\u2019t made sense of it that way.\u00a0I told the world we had a miscarriage, the world agreed we had a miscarriage, all the headlines said it was a miscarriage. And I became really frustrated that I didn\u2019t, in the first place, say what it was, and I felt silly that it had taken me over a year to actually understand that we had had an abortion.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>So powerful. Our hearts go out\u2026<\/p>\n<p>This has clearly and understandably been weighing on Chrissy\u2019s mind this week. On Wednesday, she spoke to\u00a0<em>People<\/em> about the pregnancy loss, too, and admitted it \u201cstill hurts.\u201d\u00a0In that discussion with the mag, she explained:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI think that miracles are just always happening, and there are so many ways to make them happen.\u00a0It was always important to me to share the other side of the story for people. And it\u2019s just really nice to have people come up and appreciate it and to be able to be that story of hope for them.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>And she added:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThey say you get a thick skin, and it is true. You get a thick skin, and you\u2019re able to deal with the emotions better that come with being hurt or let down again. But, of course, it still hurts. And, of course, you still go through it and you learn how important it is to be able to take care of yourself and go to therapy and to talk to people about any worries or anxieties you might be having.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>We are buoyed by her optimism through such a difficult situation.
