As far as I\u2019m concerned, <em>none.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why we\u2019ve put together a handy guide outlining everything you should do to mess up your MacBook\u2019s battery as quickly as possible. Keep it open. Make music a single time a year? Who cares, leave Garageband primed and ready to go 24 hours a day. Opened Outlook by mistake in 2012? It must stay active forever.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, you should also leave Spotify playing even when you don\u2019t want to listen to music, just turn the volume off. While I\u2019m thinking about it, you should probably just leave videos constantly playing in the background. Why spend time refining or revising when the thing already exists? It\u2019s there. It\u2019s real. It can\u2019t get any better than that \u2014 and the same goes for apps.<\/p>\n<p>Who cares about \u201ctweaks,\u201d \u201cimprovements,\u201d or \u201coptimizations?\u201d I\u2019ll tell you: losers. Big old boring losers. And, friends, one thing we\u2019re not are big old boring losers. We\u2019re winners.<\/p>\n<p>Winners never, ever update apps. Winners deliberately go and turn off automatic software updates. Winners stay on a version of macOS so old, the terms and conditions are carved into stone. Winners have MacBook batteries that are so drained, you can barely turn your computer on before it shuts down. Winners. Winners. <em>Winners<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Unplug_and_discharge_and_plug_in_and_unplug_and_plug_in_again\"><\/span>Unplug and discharge and plug in and unplug and plug in again.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Laptops these days are made to energy efficient, and most modern MacBooks are created to manage and optimize charging to protect the battery.<\/p>\n<p>But that sounds boring and dull.<\/p>\n<p>I suggest that everytime you charge your MacBook to 100%, wait until it goes back down to 99% \u2014 and then plug it back in again. And do this repeatedly. Over and over. Teach that laptop who owns who.<\/p>\n<p>On this note, another fantastic way to ruin your MacBook\u2019s battery is to run it all the way down. If you ever see a warning pop up telling you your laptop\u2019s about to go to sleep because it\u2019s low on juice, <em>good. <\/em>That\u2019s what you want. Run it all the way into the ground. Drain your computer like it\u2019s a weak human, and you\u2019re a thirsty vampire. Keep it loud. Pump it up. To the max.
