There were dozens of classified documents there, just as the <strong>National Archives<\/strong> said. So not only was that proof Trump had taken the top secret docs \u2014 which is illegal at best and evidence of <em>espionage<\/em> at worst \u2014 it was also proof he\u2019d lied about it. He\u2019d previously assured the government in writing that he didn\u2019t have any more classified docs. That\u2019s obstruction of justice!<\/p>\n<p>Like we said, slam dunk case, right? Well, if it were anyone but Trump\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: NY State Suing Donald Trump For $250 MILLION DOLLARS Over Years Of Alleged Financial Crimes!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He somehow got the case moved to a completely different district in Florida in order to get a judge that <em>he\u2019d<\/em> personally <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointed. Trump then demanded a Special Master \u2014 a third party \u2014 review all the documents before the government could use them for their case. The former POTUS didn\u2019t have a legal leg to stand on given he was only implying that some of what was found <em>might<\/em> be privileged \u2014 without ever actually claiming any privilege. In any case, the idea he had any legal claim to\u00a0top secret national defense documents was absurd on its face. He\u2019s a private citizen now. There\u2019s no legitimate reason for him to still have any of those materials.<\/p>\n<p>Somehow his handpicked Judge <strong>Eileen Cannon<\/strong> ruled in his favor, even picking his suggestion for a Special Master over the government\u2019s. The DOJ motioned to exclude the classified docs from the Special Master review \u2014 after all, they\u2019re TOP SECRET! Most of the FBI agents who pulled them from boxes in the closet at Mar-A-Lago weren\u2019t even allowed to read them! But Cannon denied the motion \u2014 leaving them no choice but to take it to a higher court. They appealed to the 11th Circuit, which ruled on Wednesday night\u2026<\/p>\n<p>That Judge Cannon was wrong, and the DOJ was right!<\/p>\n<p>They agreed with the Justice Department that protecting national defense secrets was\u00a0<em>obviously<\/em> more important than the potential damage to Trump\u2019s reputation, which is what Cannon had prioritized in her ruling. The appeals panel ruled:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt is self-evident that the public has a strong interest in ensuring that the storage of the classified records did not result in \u2018exceptionally grave damage to the national security.\u2019 Ascertaining that necessarily involves reviewing the documents, determining who had access to them and when, and deciding which (if any) sources or methods are compromised.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>They agreed with the DOJ that delaying this kind of investigation \u201crisks imposing real and significant harm on the United States and the public.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"highlight\">BAM!<\/p>\n<p>Finally some common sense here! Not to mention, a focus on the law and not on what Trump wants.<\/p>\n<p>This rare piece of good <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> in this case was balanced with a truly astounding claim from Trump. In an interview on <strong>Fox News<\/strong> with his unofficial adviser <strong>Sean Hannity<\/strong>, he finally said the thing his lawyers were trying really hard NOT to say.<\/p>\n<p>See, it all comes down to this idea that Trump declassified the documents. Because if he had declassified them while he was still President, they weren\u2019t classified, right? So no crime. It\u2019s an argument they were happy to make on conservative TV and radio\u2026 but when it came to any legal docs, they just wouldn\u2019t say it. Why? They have absolutely ZERO proof he ever declassified any of it. (And considering some of it is nuclear secrets, <em>of course<\/em> he couldn\u2019t have declassified those docs without a big fuss.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: Trump Says He\u2019ll Still Run For President If He Gets Indicted<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They even told the Special Master they couldn\u2019t provide proof he had declassified everything because it might harm them in future legal proceedings. Um\u2026 what?? TBH we don\u2019t know what that means. We\u2019re not sure if it\u2019s because our law degree comes from\u00a0<em>SVU<\/em> or because it\u2019s utter nonsense. But Special Master\u00a0<strong>Raymond Dearie<\/strong> \u2014 remember, Trump\u2019s choice \u2014 seemed to think the latter, telling them:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cMy view of it is: You can\u2019t have your cake and eat it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In other words, if they wanted to argue he declassified the docs, they needed to do it. Legally. Not just hint at it. That\u2019s not how court works.<\/p>\n<p>Well, their client finally revealed what everyone knew. There IS no evidence he declassified anything. Because as far as he was concerned, he didn\u2019t have to go through any proper channels or, you know, tell anyone. Just like everything else in his presidency, he believed he had ascended to godhood like <strong>Louis XIV<\/strong> \u2014 and was somehow all-powerful. He proved it on Wednesday night\u2019s broadcast. When Hannity asked him about evidence of declassifying the docs, Trump declared:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThere doesn\u2019t have to be a process, as I understand it. You\u2019re the president of the United States, you can declassify just by saying it\u2019s declassified, even by thinking about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cEven by thinking about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He literally thinks that because he retroactively wanted them to be declassified, they were declassified. So when he proceeded to tell Hannity he had declassified them but had no proof \u2014 \u201cwhen I left the White House, they were declassified\u201d \u2014 now we know what he meant. He <em>thought<\/em> them declassified.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/giphy.com\/gifs\/imgur-feminism-4xd9SFsmkheX6\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/media2.giphy.com\/media\/4xd9SFsmkheX6\/giphy.gif\" alt=\"Serious Monster GIF - Find &amp; Share on GIPHY\" height=\"320\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"highlight\">Wow.<\/p>\n<p>Hilariously, the 11th Circuit appeals board \u2014 which was 2\/3 Trump judges btw \u2014 said as far as they were concerned it wouldn\u2019t have mattered if he\u00a0<em>had<\/em> declassified the docs secretly, just for himself. They pointed out Trump still has not shown why he \u201chas a personal interest in\u201d the documents.\u00a0They noted Trump \u201chas not even attempted to show that he has a need to know the information contained in the classified documents\u2026 Nor has he established that the current administration has waived that requirement for these documents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s what the DOJ really needs to get to the bottom of, considering the only reasons anyone can think of are, well, probably violations of the Espionage Act.
