He had received a \u201cNot Suited\u201d remark on his psych evaluation, according to the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>The deputy, Devin Williams Jr., 24, is accused in the slaughter of a married couple in Dublin, California. He allegedly shot the couple dead inside their home on Sept. 7 after completing a double shift at the Santa Rita Jail. <\/p>\n<p>Williams \u2014 who was reportedly having an affair with the wife \u2014 had failed his psychological exam, but was hired in September 2021 nonetheless, KTVU reported, citing four sources familiar with the situation. <\/p>\n<p>Because of liability issues, the sheriff\u2019s department began auditing which other deputies might have failed the tests, but were still hired.<\/p>\n<p>The audit found that 47 deputies were in active duty, despite receiving a \u201cNot Suited\u201d result on their psych evals. Not Suited\u2019 evaluation,\u201d Ahern <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/22925255-47-deputies-relieved\">wrote in the letter obtained by KTVU<\/a>. \u201cUnfortunately, this is not the case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Deputies who were graded \u201cNot Suited\u201d in their evaluations cannot serve as a peace officer in California under state rules, he said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur legal counsel has informed our Office that you will not be authorized to carry a firearm and you cannot make arrests based upon probable cause, issue traffic citations or perform any function reserved for peace officers,\u201d Ahern wrote. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"711\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/09\/47-ca-deputies-fail-psych-exam-005.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Dublin Police Chief Garrett Holmes, left, and Alameda County Sheriff Sgt. Ray Kelly confirmed to KTVU that the audit was prompted by Williams\u2019 alleged crime. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know that people are going to assume that all these deputies are killers,\u201d Kelly told the station. \u201cBut that\u2019s not true. This test tries to find out if you are psychologically suitable for the job, to handle all the horrible things we see. At the age of 22, sometimes you\u2019re not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Candidates for the job receive \u201cNot Suited\u201d results for a range of red flags including mental health issues, financial problems, too many marriages and divorces or drug and alcohol issues, a retired employee told KTVU.<\/p>\n<p>He added that in the past, candidates who failed the evaluation were simply told they wouldn\u2019t be hired but the rules had gotten more lax under Ahern. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know this isn\u2019t good,\u201d Kelly said. \u201cBut it\u2019s not as bad as it sounds.\u201d\u00a0\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
