As a result, various scenarios were under discussion Wednesday for the three-<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a> series, which is scheduled to begin Friday at Truist Park and should play a significant role in determining the NL East champion.<\/p>\n<p>One possibility, according to sources, is moving the game Friday night to earlier in the day if it\u2019s determined that provides a better window to complete nine innings.<\/p>\n<p>Also under consideration: a split doubleheader on Sunday \u2014 the first two games of the series are considered most at-risk \u2014 and MLB could still hold next Thursday as a potential day for one or two or games if they are necessary to determine the NL East champion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s so many different scenarios and I haven\u2019t played through all of them,\u201d Francisco Lindor said before scoring the winning run in the Mets\u2019 5-4, 10-inning comeback win over the Marlins.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"699\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/09\/Jacob-deGrom-9.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Jacob DeGrom is scheduled to pitch in the first game of the Mets' key series vs. the Atlanta Braves this weekend.\" class=\"wp-image-24050892\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/09\/Jacob-deGrom-9.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=2048 2048w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/09\/Jacob-deGrom-9.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1536 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/09\/Jacob-deGrom-9.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/09\/Jacob-deGrom-9.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Jacob DeGrom is scheduled to pitch in the first game of the Mets\u2019 key series vs. the Atlanta Braves this weekend.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>The Mets, according to a source, proposed a Thursday night series opener ahead of the hurricane\u2019s expected arrival in Georgia, and were prepared to move their game Wednesday to 4 p.m. to accommodate <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> to Atlanta. That proposal was rejected by the Braves and ultimately by MLB, which has final say on the matter.<\/p>\n<p>The Braves, who trail the Mets by one game in the NL East race, anticipate three straight sellouts this weekend. Atlanta officials, according to a source, also believe that only the game Saturday falls into the at-risk category.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt looks like we should be able to play,\u201d Jacob deGrom said. \u201cGo there as if we are playing and adjust from there. That is what you have got to do because if you check out and end up playing then you are going to be unprepared.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A makeup game next Thursday in Atlanta would be far from ideal given that the wild-card round of the playoffs is set to begin the following day. It\u2019s conceivable the Mets would have to play their regular-season finale at Citi Field on Wednesday, travel to Atlanta for a makeup game the following day and then return to New York to start the wild-card round on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The Braves would face easier logistics if they lost the division race in a makeup game Thursday as they would remain home to begin the wild-card round.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"no\" height=\"200\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/playlist.megaphone.fm?e=NYPH5167173073&amp;light=true\" width=\"100%\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Mets plan to start deGrom, Max Scherzer and Chris Bassitt, in that order, over the weekend. Of concern is starting a game and then enduring a delay that would remove the starting pitcher early.<\/p>\n<p>Twice during the Mets\u2019 visit to Atlanta last month, games started and were then delayed by rain. Carlos Carrasco returned after an hour delay in one game and departed with an oblique strain.<\/p>\n<p>DeGrom recalled starting a game in Atlanta a few years ago and returning after an in-game rain delay.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are plenty of places to throw there so it makes it a little bit easier to stay ready,\u201d deGrom said. \u201cIt\u2019s not ideal, but it\u2019s something that is definitely a possibility and having done it before is something that has definitely made it easier.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>MLB officials have not considered moving the games to a neutral site. Lindor was asked if he could understand why the Braves would want to keep the games in Atlanta given the anticipated sellouts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are still going to sell out,\u201d Lindor said. \u201cIf they are concerned about tickets, they are going to sell out. It\u2019s the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves, it\u2019s going to sell out. Wherever you put the game, it\u2019s going to sell out. You could put it in Japan and it\u2019s going to sell out.
