Well, that\u2019s the idea behind Alfred\u2019s ML2 smart lock. Made in collaboration with Wi-Charge, the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/alfredinc.com\/products\/ml2\">Alfred ML2<\/a> is the first smart lock to support long-range wireless charging.<\/p>\n<p>We first saw the Alfred ML2 at <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/487071\/best-of-ces-2020-all-the-best-things-we-saw-this-year\/\">CES 2020<\/a>, where we assumed that it was more of a concept than a real product. It just sounds like magic\u2014you just install a Wi-Charge module within 30 feet of the Alfred ML2, and you never need to worry about batteries again.\n<lite-youtube videoid=\"ky05p4e-oOM\" style=\"background-image: url('https:\/\/i.ytimg.com\/vi\/ky05p4e-oOM\/hqdefault.jpg');\">\n<button type=\"button\" class=\"lty-playbtn\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"lyt-visually-hidden\">Play Video<\/span><br \/>\n<\/button>\n<\/lite-youtube>\nNow, I doubt that the average person will experience this <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> anytime soon. The Alfred ML2 starts at $899, and since it\u2019s a\u00a0mortise lock, it will only fit in commercial buildings (and some very fancy homes).\u00a0Oh, and the\u00a0Wi-Charge module costs extra, with pricing that will vary depending on the customer.<\/p>\n<p>Installation also seems like a big factor here. As outlined by Alfred, the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/redirect.viglink.com\/?key=204a528a336ede4177fff0d84a044482&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.shopify.com%2Fs%2Ffiles%2F1%2F0095%2F1487%2F6985%2Ffiles%2FML2_Installation_Guide_V5.0.pdf%3Fv%3D1651808736&amp;cuid=xid:{xid}&amp;___trxnet=vg\">ML2 installation process<\/a> is pretty in-depth, with lots of small parts and wires. And based on early examples of this technology, customers will probably want to install the Wi-Charge module in their ceiling, which may require professional help.<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s a lot of work for an otherwise straightforward smart lock. The Alfred ML2 has a touchscreen keypad, works with RFID cards, supports Bluetooth, and can send notifications to smartphones. You can get most of these features (minus the RFID card thing) with a relatively inexpensive smart lock.<\/p>\n<p>Until we can test Wi-Charge technology, we can\u2019t guarantee its effectiveness. But Alfred\u2019s decision to make the ML2 a mortise smart lock is a sign of confidence\u2014mortise locks are hard to turn, so the ML2 uses significantly more power than your average smart lock.<\/p>\n<p>The Alfred ML2 is available today, but you need to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/alfredinc.com\/products\/ml2\">inquire with Alfred<\/a> to purchase one.
