While browsing your favorite websites from your wrist may seem convenient, some hurdles still exist.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Three_Ways_to_Access_the_Apple_Watch_Browser\"><\/span>Three Ways to Access the Apple Watch Browser<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To access the Apple Watch browser, you\u2019ll need to tap a link. There are three surefire ways of getting a link using stock apps within watchOS. There may be more if you use third-party apps, which you can install using the Watch app on your iPhone or <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/441132\/how-to-install-apps-directly-on-your-apple-watch\/\">on the Watch directly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED:<\/strong> <strong><em>How to Install Apps Directly on Your Apple Watch<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"1_Use_Siri\"><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" name=\"autotoc_anchor_1\">1. Use Siri<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The easiest way of launching the browser is to ask Siri to do it. All you need is a link to tap in a Messages conversation. This isn\u2019t so bad if you have an <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/754963\/apple-watch-series-7-brings-a-full-keyboard-to-your-wrist\/\">Apple Watch Series 7 or later with a full wrist keyboard. Use Mail<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Finally, you can also tap on links within email messages. Just like the Messages method, this requires the presence of a link in an incoming email.<\/p>\n<p>You can type (or dictate) and send a link via email. And there are a few reasons why.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Browser_Is_Impractical\"><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" name=\"autotoc_anchor_5\">The Browser Is Impractical<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>To start, we experienced issues with rendering on our Series 4 Apple Watch. As you can see in the screenshot below of the How-To Geek homepage, the images haven\u2019t appeared, and the alignment of some elements is off.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-835153\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/htg_home_web.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"How-To Geek home page on an Apple Watch\" width=\"368\" height=\"448\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>While performing web searches using Siri is the best method to use, it still requires patience and some thoughtful search cues. For example, telling Siri to \u201csearch for wikipedia.com\u201d opens an App Store link rather than Wikipedia.<\/p>\n<p>Since Siri includes information from Wikipedia, saying \u201csearch for iPhone Wikipedia\u201d doesn\u2019t provide you with a link but a summary of the topic.<\/p>\n<p>You must remember to say \u201csearch the web\u201d for these queries, and even then you need to hope that Bing (which Siri uses) gets the right results.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-835159\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/search_iphone_wikipedia.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Asking Siri to &quot;search iphone wikipedia&quot;\" width=\"368\" height=\"448\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The other methods have even less utility since you must use precise web addresses. If you\u2019re using an Apple Watch without a keyboard, you\u2019ll have to use Apple\u2019s \u201cscribble\u201d text input method, which frequently confuses the letter \u201co\u201d with the numeral \u201c0.\u201d This can cause many \u201c.com\u201d links to fail.<\/p>\n<p>The Mail and Messages methods can be made a little more practical by sending messages to yourself, but it\u2019s still not the most pleasant way of browsing the web. Dictating a web address is fine, but if you\u2019re using your voice, you\u2019re better off using Siri.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-835155 size-full\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/siri_link.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Switching between Reader and Web View on Apple Watch\" width=\"368\" height=\"448\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Performing more precise queries requires using a search engine as a jumping-off point, such as Google, DuckDuckGo, or Bing.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes pages will open in Reader view by default, which makes for a more useful reading experience at the cost of web page functionality. If this happens, tap the address bar to change to \u201cWeb View\u201d instead.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Using_a_Browser_on_Your_Wrist_Is_Uncomfortable\"><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" name=\"autotoc_anchor_6\">Using a Browser on Your Wrist Is Uncomfortable<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Using a browser on your wrist isn\u2019t the most comfortable option. No watch was designed to be used for an extended length of time. You may experience physical discomfort from holding your wrist in an extended position. While short browsing sessions are doable, longer sessions may not be possible.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Third-Party_watchOS_Browser_Apps_Do_Exist\"><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" name=\"autotoc_anchor_7\">Third-Party watchOS Browser Apps Do Exist<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re serious about browsing the web on your Apple Watch, a third-party browser might be worth it to overcome some of the hurdles we discussed above.<\/p>\n<p>Of the free Apple Watch browsers we tried,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/parrity\/id1448208309?at=1010l392g&amp;ct=htg831556\">Parrity<\/a>\u00a0is the only option we would recommend.
