But a smart fridge\u00a0can make you feel real stupid about it.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reviewgeek.com\/33643\/2020s-smart-fridges-still-arent-worth-buying\/\">Smart refrigerators tend to offer<\/a>\u00a0automatic temperature regulation (I would just set mine to cold), integration with all your smart devices, and often the ability to peek inside the fridge through a camera or window\u2014a particularly\u00a0useful feature if you\u2019re worried the milk and eggs are going to jump you and take your lunch money.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Keeping_Empty_Milk_Cartons_Cold_in_Style\"><\/span>Keeping Empty Milk Cartons Cold in Style<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Take the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Samsung-RF27T5501SR-3-Door-French-Refrigerator\/dp\/B088B3G4G9\/?tag=lsmedia-10972-20\">Samsung French Door Family Hub Refrigerator<\/a>\u2014wow, that\u2019s a long name. Thankfully, it doesn\u2019t have the ability to run away because it would take too long to call it.<\/p>\n<p>Looking like a fridge wearing an eyepatch, this monolith features an integrated display where you can control all your smart devices, including the ability to check who\u2019s at the front door if you have a compatible video doorbell. It would clearly make your fridge lord of all the devices in your house. Do you know how many times I would egregiously use this at the checkout so everyone waiting knew how fancy my fridge is? A lot of times. They would ban me from that store.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lowes.com\/pl\/Bosch--Refrigerators-Appliances\/4294857973\">Bosch 800 Series Refrigerator<\/a> (that\u2019s more like it) emits an alert if the door is open so the residents don\u2019t suffer a slow death, and if you tap on the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/track.flexlinkspro.com\/g.ashx?foid=2.5491843.15039309&amp;trid=1088663.225794&amp;foc=16&amp;fot=9999&amp;fos=5&amp;fobs=htg|xid:{xid}&amp;fobs2=832996&amp;fobs3=&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.lg.com%2Fus%2Finstaview-refrigerators&amp;___trxnet=fo\">LG\u00a0InstaView Refrigerator<\/a> twice, you can see inside and watch your food\u2019s secret fight club.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Smart_vs_Not_That_Smart\"><\/span>Smart vs. Not That Smart<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re not sure whether you need a smart refrigerator, it\u2019s worth asking yourself an important question: Do I already own a refrigerator that works? If you do and it still keeps things cold (mine heats up and then eats the food), a smart refrigerator is probably not necessary.<\/p>\n<p>Even if you\u2019re in the market for a new fridge,\u00a0a smart fridge is probably not something you need. They tend to cost up to thousands more than your standard, decent fridge. Yes, they conveniently help with recipes and grocery shopping, and features like a family hub that streams shows and displays notes could be fun for kids.<\/p>\n<p>But is a smart fridge better than a regular fridge with a calendar and cute drawings held up by magnets? Not really.<\/p>\n<p>More to the point, I already spend far too much time thinking about what\u2019s in the fridge or gazing inside mindlessly as if I\u2019m going to find the snack to end all snacks. A cool smart fridge that causes me to spend even more time around it is an enabler I don\u2019t need in my life.<\/p>\n<p>Now, if they make a smart fridge that says passive-aggressive things like, \u201cDude, it\u2019s three in the morning,\u201d then I\u2019d be all in.
