But a clever little hack to switch to your preferred camera app in Shortcuts means you can use your preferred camera app, even when you tap the lock screen shortcut.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Set_Up_the_Camera_App_Shortcut\"><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" name=\"autotoc_anchor_0\">How to Set Up the Camera App Shortcut<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This hack uses Apple\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/au\/app\/shortcuts\/id915249334?at=1010l392g&amp;ct=htg837975\">Shortcuts app<\/a> to trigger an app of your choice whenever you launch the default iPhone Camera app.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike standalone Shortcuts (which can be shared and downloaded), you\u2019ll need to set the camera shortcut up manually on your iPhone.<\/p>\n<p>To do this, open Shortcuts and tap on the \u201cAutomations\u201d tab at the bottom of the screen. The first is that your iPhone will need to be unlocked to run third-party apps.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll need to glance at the Face ID sensor to launch a camera app from the lock screen.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-837985\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/face_id_to_open.jpg?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Face ID required to open a third party app on a locked iPhone\" width=\"650\" height=\"211\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>In our testing, we didn\u2019t notice this requirement as the Face ID sensor was so fast at unlocking our iPhone 13 Pro that the shortcut felt seamless.
