I mean, my goodness, no one\u2019s perfect. Certainly I am not,\u201d the chief White House medical adviser said.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">REUTERS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWhen I said, \u2018At this particular time, we should not necessarily do anything different,\u2019 that\u2019s when there was, like, five cases in the country,\u201d to top infectious diseases doc said.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Fauci recalled how he had advised that lifestyle changes were not necessary when there were relatively few cases, while also adding the caveat that conditions could \u201cchange rapidly and we need to be prepared.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut then I said \u2014 I kid around about it \u2014 it was semicolon, \u2018However, this could change rapidly and we need to be prepared,\u2019\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>He lamented the fact that the only remarks \u201cthrown back\u201d at him during the early days of the outbreak were his recommendations that things did not have to change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, as a matter of fact, that was true. But if you wanted to say \u2014 if we knew then that this virus under the radar screen was transmitting in a way that was not fully <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>reciated and any of us would have said, \u2018Hey, you know, we\u2019ve had five cases in the country. There was supposedly a shortage of good masks for the people who were taking care of individuals,\u201d Fauci<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2022\/09\/22\/anthony-fauci-texas-tribune-festival\/\">\u00a0told\u00a0<\/a>Evan Smith, CEO of The Texas Tribune.<\/p>\n<p>The veteran immunologist has dismissed allegations from Republican lawmakers that he abused his power or lied during the pandemic, and said he would have \u201cnothing to hide\u201d in a potential\u00a0investigation promised\u00a0by GOP leaders if their party takes back the House in the midterm elections.<\/p>\n<p>When asked Wednesday if he would sit for such an investigation, Fauci said: \u201cOf course, I have no problem.
