Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roach to supporting students in and out of the classroom.\n                        <\/div>\n<div>\n                                                                        <strong>Created for<\/strong><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sr.studiostack.com\/c\/link?l=972786&amp;s=972662\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-sizes=\"auto\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 90px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.macleans.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/BU-logo-purpleLR.png\" alt=\"alt text\"\/><\/a><br \/>\nNestled in the picturesque city of Sherbrooke, Que., you\u2019ll find Bishop\u2019s University\u2014a beautiful campus with welcoming arches adorned with brick stone. \u201cIt\u2019s so hard to capture what it\u2019s like because it\u2019s an experience that is magical in the sense that you\u2019re surrounded by nature,\u201d says Enzo Evangelisti, who graduated from Bishop\u2019s in 2022 and has returned as residence life coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>Located on 550 acres at the junction of the Saint-Fran\u00e7ois and Massawippi rivers in the province\u2019s Eastern Townships, the liberal arts university, founded in 1843, also boasts some stunning 19th century architecture alongside a futuristic, newly-renovated and updated Library Learning Commons with open spaces for collaboration and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a>izing.<\/p>\n<p>With fewer than 3,000 full-time students\u2014many of whom live on campus\u2014Bishop\u2019s University is renowned for its close-knit community of students, faculty and staff. \u201cThere\u2019s a deep-rooted connection that\u2019s fostered by the campus itself and the people who work here,\u201d says Evangelisti. \u201cIt\u2019s a combination of factors that creates this unique experience that\u2019s so hard to explain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Katie Bibbs, the academic facilitator in Student Services, agrees. \u201cIt brings these young people together with faculty and staff who are so committed to the student experience in a really interesting incubator of shared passion, shared curiosity and shared desire to really make this a fulfilling experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen students come to a smaller liberal arts institution, they expect a more holistic experience,\u201d she explains. This year, the school is amplifying that experience with a curricular approach to student affairs\u2014an innovative framework that is growing in popularity across North America. The curricular approach broadens the whole concept of education to include intentional academic, personal and professional learning, outside the classroom, in-residence and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re operating with the lens that we are educators too,\u201d adds Bibbs. \u201cWe\u2019re here to serve the student experience, to help them grow as human beings so that the emphasis is not just on the transcript, but rather on the entire student, so that when they leave, they leave a whole, fulfilled human being who feels like they have really grown because of their experience on campus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To that end, Student Affairs identified four learning aims rooted in the university\u2019s culture, values and mission. The first is to support the personal growth of the student because, as Bibbs notes, \u201cit\u2019s their definition of success that matters\u2013not mine, not their profs\u2019.\u201d That may involve, for example, helping students learn how to advocate for themselves or resolve conflicts\u2014essential life skills to be sure, but ones that aren\u2019t typically an intentional part of the university experience.<\/p>\n<p>The next is fostering curiosity. When different factions of the Bishop\u2019s community were asked what their hopes were for students when they graduate, Bibbs says, having curiosity was one of the top answers.
