Now, obviously, part of the book deals with the daytime TV star\u2019s on-air relationship with Regis while the pair hosted <i>Live! With Regis and Kelly<\/i> from 2001 to 2011.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, Regis was coming off a 12-year-long run alongside Gifford on\u00a0<em>Live! With Regis and Kathie Lee<\/em>, so there was clearly a big change between the two female co-hosts. And it sounds like the two women STILL don\u2019t see things the same way!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: Oh Em Gee! While talking with\u00a0<em>People<\/em> late last month, <strong>Mark Consuelos<\/strong>\u2018 wife got real about how difficult it was to step on set with Regis and do daytime work. Ripa told the mag in their late September chat that\u00a0she had \u201cgood and bad days\u201d with Philbin, who died in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>She added:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt was not a cakewalk. It took years to earn my place there. \u2026 You can\u2019t make a person befriend you.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Now, those comments have gotten back to Kathie Lee \u2014 and the one-time queen of daytime talk is not happy.<\/p>\n<p>The 69-year-old TV vet appeared on\u00a0<em>Fox 5 <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a><\/em> in NYC on Monday morning and spoke to the local TV outlet\u2019s anchors about Ripa\u2019s book. Gifford was VERY blunt about it, too! When asked about Kelly\u2019s comments about Regis while promoting the new memoir, Kathie Lee said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI was very sorry to see the headlines. We see headlines all the time and you never know what\u2019s true and what\u2019s not true. I was in Israel when I saw that and went, \u2018Oh, I hope this isn\u2019t true.\u2019 I just hope it isn\u2019t, because what\u2019s the point? I don\u2019t get it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"highlight\">Oof.<\/p>\n<p>And it sounds like Kathie Lee will NOT be reading this new book.\u00a0The ex-daytime TV talker simply said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI\u2019m not gonna read the book, I haven\u2019t read it, I don\u2019t even know if it\u2019s out yet. I know what Regis was to me.\u00a0He was 15 years the best partner a person could ever have, professionally. But he was my friend. We were dear friends. And after I left the show, for the next 20 years, we were dearer friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Kathie Lee spoke very fondly of the late TV legend. She told\u00a0<em>Fox 5<\/em> about how much she loved working with the longtime television talker for those years on air between 1988 and 2000:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe were Frick and Frack, the odd couple. We were absolutely perfect together for television. We never had an argument, not an unkind word in 15 years, so that was my reality.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>She was then asked about her former co-host\u2019s surviving family, too, in light of Ripa\u2019s new book. Gifford indicated she is most worried about Regis\u2019 widow <strong>Joy<\/strong> being \u201cupset\u201d by the contents of Kelly\u2019s book:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThat was my first thought, \u2018Lord, protect Joy and the girls from this.\u2019\u00a0In all the years I\u2019ve known him, I never saw him unkind to anyone, I never did. I\u2019m not going to say anything ugly about anybody. I never have and I\u2019m not going to start now.
