Drake has often voiced his frustrations with the Recording Academy, most notably in 2017 when he skipped the show entirely, despite \u201cHotline Bling\u201d winning two awards that year.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\" inserted=\"shortcode\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit300\" class=\"adUnits\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><script>\n                        if(isMobile){\n                            window.catalyst.cmd.push(\"loadAds\", [[\"incontent\", \"contentUnit300\", \"section_post_inarticle\"]]);\n                        }\n                    <\/script><br \/>\n\u201cEven though Hotline Bling is not a rap song, the only category they can manage to fit me in is a rap category,\u201d he said in an interview with DJ Semtex at the time. \u201cMaybe because I\u2019ve rapped in the past or because I\u2019m Black, I can\u2019t figure out why. I won two awards but I don\u2019t even want them, because it just feels weird for some reason.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Drake received nominations for \u201cWay 2 Sexy\u201d and\u00a0<em>Certified Lover Boy<\/em> at the 2022 Grammy Awards, but later pulled them from consideration.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"50 Cent Calls The Grammys &#039;Out Of Touch&#039; For Best Rap Album Picks\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HHBq5b7cnvk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Weeknd, meanwhile, publicly scolded the Grammys in 2021 after his juggernaut album\u00a0<em>After Hours<\/em> was snubbed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause of the secret committees, I will no longer allow my label to submit my music to the Grammys,\u201d he said at the time. The Recording Academy went on to tweak some of its rules in response, but it ultimately wasn\u2019t enough to convince The Weeknd to submit his work.<\/p>\n<p>Despite his protests, the XO crooner still won the 2022 Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance thanks to his appearance on Kanye West\u2019s \u201cHurricane.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Additionally,\u00a0Bruno Mars\u00a0announced in a statement earlier this week that he and\u00a0Anderson .Paak\u00a0won\u2019t be submitting\u00a0their collaborative album, <em>An Evening With Silk Sonic<\/em>, for Grammys consideration either.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe truly put our all on this record, but Silk Sonic would like to gracefully, humbly and most importantly, sexually, bow out of submitting our album this year,\u201d Mars wrote. \u201cWe hope we can celebrate with everyone on a great year of music and partake in the party.
