However, in an exciting turn of events, Wintermute paid back its largest debt due Oct. 15, involving a $92 million Tether (USDT) loan issued by TrueFi.<\/p>\n<p>After repayment of TrueFi\u2019s $92 million loan, Wintermute still owes $75 million to Maple Finance in USD Coin (USDC) and wr<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ed ether (WETH) and $22.4 million to Clearpool, a total of $97.4 million in debt. <\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2022-10\/352cc6bd-5a49-47d1-a23c-8243ab9b81c6.png\"><\/figure>\n<p>Loan <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/app.truefi.io\/loans\/0x2dbe894e4f211B5a5E994EcFa1FB7b3958C7BBff\">details<\/a> show that Wintermute Trading had borrowed $92.5 million for a term period of 180 days. James Edwards from Libre Blockchain suspects that \u201csome of the funds from their recent &#8220;hack&#8221; contributed to the payback.\u201d He further claimed that BlockSec\u2019s attempt to debunk the conspiracy theory around an inside job theory might be a miss. <\/p>\n<p>Edwards stated that BlockSec was previously \u201cdead wrong\u201d in calling out another firm for using the &#8220;Vanity address&#8221; tool, adding that:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cTo believe that a market maker handling billions of dollars (their words) worth of crypto assets per day would use such a tool to create an address ultimately responsible for managing hundreds of millions of dollars in value is preposterous.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Supporting his claim, Edwards pointed out the GitHub URL to the vanity address tool Wintermute supposedly used to generate their vanity address, as shown below.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2022-10\/4e01ead7-d0e1-4fc2-bafa-4a23b0ae21b8.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p>On Oct. 10, TrueFi issued a default notice to Blockwater Technologies for missing a scheduled payment related to a $3.4 million loan in Binance USD (BUSD). <\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/v\"><strong><em>Cyber sleuth alleges $160M Wintermute hack was an inside job<\/em><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Attempting re<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tion to a $117 million exploit, Mango Markets offered the hacker to keep $47 million as a bug bounty while requesting the return of $67 million of the stolen funds.<\/p>\n<p>A majority, 98%, of the Mango Markets community approved the decision and also supported that no legal action would be taken against the hacker once the $67 million was returned.<\/p>\n<p>However, some of the community members raised objections to the near $50 million bug bounty, which, in one voter&#8217;s words, \u201cis ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><template data-name=\"subscription_form\" data-type=\"markets_outlook\"><\/template><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
