Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a> sued Kevin Spacey for allegedly trying to seduce him when he was 14 in order to hold the Hollywood star \u201caccountable\u201d \u2013 and not because of a 30-year vendetta against the celebrity, his lawyer told jurors in closing arguments Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rapp\u2019s attorney maintained his client has been completely honest about the encounter between him and Spacey in 1986, as he urged jurors in Manhattan federal court not to let the Oscar-winner \u201cget away with it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe simple truth here is: this happened, he shared it, and after all this time he\u2019s come here to share that truth with you,\u201d attorney Richard Steigman said, referring to Rapp.<\/p>\n<p>Rapp sued Spacey in 2020 for battery, claiming the actor, then 26, picked him up \u201clike a groom would a bride,\u201d then laid on top of him in his Manhattan apartment when he was 14.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s done this to hold Kevin Spacey accountable,\u201d Steigman said, adding that Spacey\u2019s account of what happened is inconsistent and \u201cnot worthy of your belief.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really hope you don\u2019t let him get away with it this time,\u201d Steigman added at the end of his rebuttal statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/rapp-spacey-closing-trial-03.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Kevin Spacey\" class=\"wp-image-24336934\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/rapp-spacey-closing-trial-03.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/rapp-spacey-closing-trial-03.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/rapp-spacey-closing-trial-03.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Kevin Spacey\u2019s attorney argued the alleged 1986 encounter at the heart of the suit did not happen. <\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">AFP via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Rapp claims the encounter, which he says occurred at the end of a party at the apartment, was an attempt to seduce him and is seeking $40 million in damages.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Spacey\u2019s attorney, Jennifer Keller, denied that the alleged event even happened, and told jurors that awarding Rapp any money would be a miscarriage of justice.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are no damages. This didn\u2019t happen.
