Yo Gotti and filmmaker Craig Brewer also worked alongside the New York legend.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t the first time Nas has worked on a documentary. In January, the\u00a0<em>Illmatic<\/em> lyricist scored a short film from Aflac titled <em>The Park Bench,\u00a0<\/em>which examines healthcare disparities in communities of color.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to that, he <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mtv.com\/news\/2495434\/nas-wins-an-emmy-before-a-grammy\/\">won the Emmy for Outstanding Sports Documentary in 2011<\/a>\u00a0for\u00a0<em>Survival 1<\/em>, an ESPN short film about the Liberian Amputee Soccer team which he directed, narrated and produced. In 2021, he stepped into the director\u2019s chair again for an episode of the Hip Hop documentary <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a>\u00a0<em>Video Music Box<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>As for Gotti, he doesn\u2019t have direct experience in film, but his work on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a> justice reform has been noteworthy.\u00a0Over the last two years, Gotti has teamed up with JAY-Z to\u00a0fight the injustices via his Team Roc organization, and the pair recently secured a significant win when the\u00a0Department of Justice recognized the violations\u00a0at the\u00a0Parchman Penitentiary maximum-security facility in Mississippi.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\" inserted=\"shortcode\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit\u201c300\u201d\" class=\"adUnits\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><script>\n                        if(isMobile){\n                            window.catalyst.cmd.push(\"loadAds\", [[\"incontent\", \"contentUnit\u201c300\u201d\", \"section_post_inarticle\"]]);\n                        }\n                    <\/script><br \/>\n\u201cI think being raised in a family who \u2014 I have several family members, my father and my aunties, who went to different prison facilities and I visited them as a youth growing up,\u201d Gotti said while speaking at this year\u2019s UJC Summit. \u201cI could imagine what they were going through, but this situation, in particular, the videos and stuff we saw coming out of there, is nothing like I heard about when I was visiting my family members.
