It also prevents apps from using mechanisms &#8220;such as [&#8230;] QR codes, cryptocurrencies, and cryptocurrency wallets\u201d which could be used to unlock content or functionality within an app.<\/p>\n<p>The rules come despite the company facing\u00a0criticism\u00a0for applying its 30% commission on NFT sales conducted through NFT marketplace apps such as\u00a0 OpenSea or Magic Eden, a move that\u2019s been marked as \u201cgrotesquely overpriced\u201d when compared to the average 2.5% commissions on NFT purchases.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Magic Eden said it removed its service from the App Store after learning of the policy and other NFT marketplaces have scaled back their application functionality with users only able to browse and view their owned NFTs.<\/p>\n<p>Apple&#8217;s guidelines have also ruled out using crypto for in-app purchases, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-us\/HT202631\">allowing<\/a> only fiat currency purchases with a \u201cvalid payment method\u201d such as debit or credit cards.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Nodes are going to dethrone tech giants \u2014 from Apple to Google<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The new guidelines make no changes to Apple\u2019s existing policy on cryptocurrency trading apps put forward by exchanges such as Binance and Coinbase where trades are not subject to the 30% \u201cApple tax\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>However, new language was added to clarify that crypto exchange apps can only be offered in their app in \u201ccountries or regions where the app has appropriate licensing and permissions to provide a cryptocurrency exchange.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><template data-name=\"subscription_form\" data-type=\"crypto_biz\"><\/template><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
