CEO Elon Musk officially took over <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> in a $44 billion deal late Thursday night. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The purchase is a seismic moment for Twitter that will also shake up the worlds of media and politics.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Musk, whose up-and-down effort to buy Twitter looked in doubt just weeks ago, has vowed to change the way the social platform avidly used by politicians, celebrities and the media operates.<\/p>\n<p>He describes himself as a \u201cfree speech absolutist,\u201d which has led to expectations that he\u2019ll bring back to Twitter people who have been previously banned.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after the deal was finalized, Musk took to the social media platform to tweet \u201cthe bird is freed\u201d and \u201clet the good times roll.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Here are five takeaways from Musk\u2019s takeover of Twitter. \u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" (AP Photo\/John Locher, File)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Former President Trump was <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.twitter.com\/en_us\/topics\/company\/2020\/suspension\">permanently suspended<\/a> from Twitter\u00a0last year after he incited his supporters to attack the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>But that could change now that Musk is in charge. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Musk\u2019s primary interest in obtaining Twitter earlier this year was due to his interest in free speech. He has criticized the platform\u2019s leadership for their content management rules, which Musk contended showed a \u201cstrong left bias.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A Trump return to Twitter just as the former president may announce a new bid for the White House would be a big deal. (Associated Press)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>After acquiring Twitter, Musk immediately fired several of the platform\u2019s top executives,\u00a0including CEO Parag Agrawal, Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal and legal affairs and policy chief Vijaya Gadde. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>All three of the executives had <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-10-28\/twitter-s-twtr-top-bosses-poised-to-exit-with-100-million-as-musk-takes-over\">\u201cgolden parachute\u201d<\/a> clauses in the purchase agreement with Musk, meaning that the world\u2019s richest man will have to cough up $204 million in severance to the trio. (Greg Nash)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Republicans have long complained that social media leans to the left, and they have mostly been <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>lauding Musk\u2019s takeover. <\/p>\n<p>Sen. Earlier this month, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/technology\/2022\/10\/20\/musk-twitter-acquisition-staff-cuts\/\">The Washington Post<\/a> reported that Musk planned on laying off 75 percent of Twitter\u2019s workforce if he acquired the company. And even though <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-10-27\/musk-tells-twitter-employees-he-doesn-t-plan-to-cut-75-of-jobs?sref=10lNAhZ9#xj4y7vzkg\">Musk denied he would make such massive cuts<\/a> to Twitter staff, layoffs are still expected under the billionaire\u2019s leadership. <\/p>\n<p>Twitter employees receive stock in the company as part of their compensation.
