Clear out the junk texts<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Spam calls are blocked relatively effectively at the carrier level, but texts are different. If your phone is inundated with fake shipping notifications and other junk, take a few steps to stop them.<\/p>\n<p>The most basic and straightforward method to stop spam texts is to block the number. Here\u2019s how to block a number in Messages:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tap the\u00a0<strong>name<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>number<\/strong>\u00a0at the top of a Messages conversation.<\/li>\n<li>Tap\u00a0<strong>info<\/strong>, then scroll down and tap\u00a0<strong>Block this Caller<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can also go a step further by filtering messages from unknown senders. Texts from anyone not in your contact list will be sent to the Unknown Senders tab in the Messages list. Here\u2019s how to do it:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Go to\u00a0<strong>Settings<\/strong>\u00a0&gt;\u00a0<strong>Messages<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Turn on\u00a0<strong>Filter Unknown Senders<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Bonus tip:<\/strong>\u00a0If you get a message from an unknown number identified as spam or junk, you can report it to Apple.
