Pressure mounts on Biden for post-midterm decision\u00a0<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/bidenjoe_102722ap-manuel-balce-ceneta_running-again.jpg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>President Biden will face mounting pressure to announce his intentions about whether he will run for reelection im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely after the midterm elections \u2014 pretty much regardless of the outcome.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But pressure will only intensify, some Democrats say, if their candidates perform poorly on Nov. 8. \u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>That is increasingly a concern for Democrats, who have long seen holding the House majority as a longshot but held out hopes they could keep their Senate majority. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s still a possibility, but with races tightening in a number of states, including Pennsylvania, angst is rising in Democratic circles about the results. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For much of the summer, Democrats were feeling optimistic about the Senate, so a loss of both chambers would be a bitter pill to swallow. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That outcome will almost certainly lead to stronger calls for Democrats to dump Biden ahead of 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo matter what h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ens, there\u2019s going to be pressure on him to make a decision sooner rather than later,\u201d said Democratic strategist Jim Manley, who served as a senior aide to the late Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But Manley agreed a poor showing for Democrats in the midterms would be more problematic for the president. \u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cThe bigger the loss, the more of a factor it will play in his own decisionmaking process,\u201d Manley added. \u201cIf it\u2019s a rout, obviously there are going to have to be changes in a lot of different areas.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the House, if Democrats lose\u00a0dozens and dozens of seats, it will add to the pressure on Biden.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf House Democrats were to take a shellacking, there will be loud voices out there asking for him to make an announcement,\u201d Manley said. \u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>It\u2019s quite unclear that Biden wants to make an announcement one way or the other quickly after the election. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Biden is known to be deliberative, if not outright slow, in making electoral decisions. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, he was criticized for entering the race months after other Democratic rivals. \u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>In 2016, as he debated whether to enter the race following his son Beau Biden\u2019s death, many of his donors and supporters were already locked in with Hillary Clinton.\u00a0He did\u00a0seriously consider a late entry, but by then it was too late.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Biden looks back on that decision with regret given his confidence that he would have defeated former President Trump in 2016, preventing his presidency. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Now Trump is almost certainly on Biden\u2019s mind again as\u00a0he weighs\u00a0his future.\u00a0The former president\u00a0is teasing a\u00a0White House\u00a0bid for 2024 and may make his own decision not long after the midterms. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Other Democrats thinking about running for the White House will want to know what Biden\u2019s plans are quickly\u00a0so they can lay the groundwork for their own campaigns.<\/p>\n<p>Already there has been some grumbling among Democrats who view Biden\u2019s age \u2014 he\u2019ll turn 80 next month \u2014 as a major factor. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They also worry privately that he\u2019s been unable to control the narrative on arguably the most pressing issue facing the White House and Democratic candidates in the midterms: inflation.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u00a0saw his\u00a0polling numbers inch up briefly after a string of legislative wins over the summer. But the president\u2019s\u00a0approval ratings\u00a0now have slipped to 40 percent, according to a Gallup survey released this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe questions about Biden\u2019s re-elect only subsided because for a few months over the summer, things were going well. Now they\u2019re not,\u201d one Democratic strategist said bluntly. \u201cAnd while Biden\u2019s accomplishments have been substantial, there\u2019s no getting around the fact that he\u2019s going to be 80 and he\u2019s not our most effective speaker.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Democrats lose Congress, it\u2019ll feel far more consequential than a normal midterm loss, and as always, we\u2019ll blame our messaging and our messengers,\u201d the strategist added. \u201cWe focused on the wrong things, and we don\u2019t have the right leaders to rally the troops.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr5_ab\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Republicans are practically eating popcorn as they ready for what they think will be another round of Democratic infighting. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy instincts are that the knives will start coming out the day after the midterms that Joe is to blame,\u201d said John Thomas, a GOP consultant who is working on some midterm races. \u201cIf progressives win, they\u2019ll say he\u2019s not being progressive enough.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Tim Ryans of the world will say he can\u2019t speak to mainstream Americans on economic issues, that they\u2019re the party of elitists,\u201d Thomas added, referring to the Democratic congressman from Ohio who is running for the Senate in a competitive race against<br \/>Republican J.D. Vance.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Still, Thomas said if Trump does announce soon after the midterms, \u201cit\u2019s a lifeline to Joe Biden. It\u2019s the encore. \u2018I came to save the country from the orange man, and I\u2019m the only one who can beat him once again.\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr6_ab\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Biden hasn\u2019t given a timeline for when he might announce his intentions. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But he has told aides and allies \u2014 including former President Barack Obama and the Rev. Al Sharpton \u2014 in private conversations that he is planning on running again.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And Democratic strategists say Biden, as history has shown, won\u2019t be pressured by any kind of political timeline or public scrutiny.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe smartest thing the Biden campaign did in the last election was they thought through a plan and then implemented\u00a0it without panicking or changing it on every ebb and flow of what TV, Twitter, or people in D.C. were saying,\u201d said Democratic strategist Eddie Vale.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr7_ab\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cThey are putting together their plans now and I think they\u2019re going to announce on the timeline they want no matter what happens in the midterms,\u201d Vale added. \u201cI also don\u2019t think the timing affects the field.
