The song became an instant Hip Hop classic and turned heads because of its quick runtime of two minutes and 17 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.complex.com\/music\/2011\/10\/method-man-25-essential-songs\/method-man-redman-da-rockwilder-1999\"><em>Complex<\/em><\/a> in 2011, Meth gave a reason as to why the song was so short. According to the Wu-Tang Clan member, Red wasn\u2019t feeling the production.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRed didn\u2019t like the beat, that\u2019s why the record\u2019s so short,\u201d Method Man said. \u201cWhen I first heard it, I was like, \u2018Fuck that!\u2019 Wrote my verse right there and spit on it and I was like, \u2018You know what? We gon\u2019 call this shit \u2018Rockwilder\u2019 after you, my n-gga.\u2019 That\u2019s how much I love this beat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tical also revealed that almost everyone was looking to acquire that beat and claimed it led the way for Rockwilder to work with JAY-Z, Destiny\u2019s Child and more.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit300\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Redman supported Meth\u2019s claim in an interview with <em>HipHopDX<\/em> in 2011 where he admitted he didn\u2019t like the production and advised the song should be shorter to allow people to want more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey don\u2019t remember that we did two verses to \u2018Da Rockwilder,&#8217;\u201d Red said at the time. \u201cWe did do two verses, but it didn\u2019t sound right. So I said, \u2018Let\u2019s cut it short\u2019 \u2026 it wouldn\u2019t have been like it was if it wasn\u2019t so short.
