MiCA bill contains a clear warning for crypto influencers &#8220;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.cointelegraph.com\/images\/840_aHR0cHM6Ly9zMy5jb2ludGVsZWdyYXBoLmNvbS91cGxvYWRzLzIwMjItMTEvMmY5YzZkYzAtZjRkMS00M2VlLWI1MWItYTIwMGI2NDY0ODQ2LmpwZw==.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"post-content\" data-v-4b69a2fe>The European Union (EU) bill aiming to regulate cryptocurrencies could result in crypto influencers being charged with market manipulation if they fail to disclose potential conflicts of interest.<\/p>\n<p>The Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/data.consilium.europa.eu\/doc\/document\/ST-13198-2022-INIT\/en\/pdf\">bill<\/a>, which has been <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roved by the European Parliament Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs on Oct. 10, is expected to be legislated after a few more <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/paddi_hansen\/status\/1579509670427131904\">hurdles<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Patrick Hansen, stablecoin issuer Circle\u2019s director of EU strategy and policy, has been closely following the passage of the bill and brought attention to a section in a Nov. 1 tweet that referred to public comments made without proper disclosure.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Crypto influencers beware: Commenting on crypto assets in (<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a>) media without disclosure and profiting from the effects of that will be considered market manipulation in the EU once MiCA is in force.<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/zachxbt?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@zachxbt<\/a> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/BflVXPazjS\">pic.twitter.com\/BflVXPazjS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Patrick Hansen (@paddi_hansen) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/paddi_hansen\/status\/1587368545264242689?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 1, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nThe section Hansen highlighted reads that voicing opinions on crypto-assets after taking out positions on them, and not disclosing that conflict of interest effectively, could be regarded as market manipulation.<\/p>\n<p>The section is part of measures included within the MiCA bill aiming to \u201cprevent insider dealing, unlawful disclosure of inside information and market manipulation related to crypto-assets, in order to ensure the integrity of crypto-asset markets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: <\/strong><strong><em>Saying \u2018not financial advice\u2019 won\u2019t keep you out of jail: Crypto lawyers<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The passage has gained some interest from the crypto community, and a related <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/CryptoCurrency\/comments\/yj3ytm\/attention_to_all_socalled_crypto_influencers\/\">post<\/a> on Reddit\u2019s cryptocurrency subreddit suggests the community is supportive, with the thread&#8217;s top comment stating:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cShilling certain projects and never taking responsibility for the losses they inflict upon people.
