She said the <em>Crash<\/em> and <em>Million Dollar Baby<\/em> screenwriter forced her to perform oral sex and then raped her as she implored him to stop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    In Haggis\u2019 telling, Breest \u2014 a publicist who worked at movie premieres \u2014 flirted with him at a January 2013 screening afterparty before accompanying him to his Manhattan apartment for a drink. He agrees that she told him upfront that she wouldn\u2019t spend the night, but he said it seemed a \u201cplayful\u201d remark.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Once they arrived, he made a pass within minutes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    In hours of testimony, Haggis acknowledged that Breest was sometimes reluctant about what he said were five different episodes of kissing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    He said he told her at one point: \u201cIf you want to do something, do it. If you don\u2019t want to do it, don\u2019t do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cShe seemed conflicted in some way,\u201d Haggis said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    But with each kiss, he said, Breest seemed to gain confidence and reassured him by initiating the kissing when he expressed the ambivalence he was started to feel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    By the time they reached a guest bedroom, Breest seemed \u201cconfident\u201d as they began kissing and eventually poured onto a guestroom bed, Haggis said. He recalled that she \u201cgiggled\u201d as their physical activity became more heated and they shed some clothing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    He said that eventually, she moved him in position to receive oral sex, saying: \u201cI\u2019m good at this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cThe way she said it was kind of adorable,\u201d Haggis said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    He said he had \u201cno knowledge\u201d and \u201cno memory\u201d of vaginally penetrating her.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cI didn\u2019t know if it occurred or not,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    He said he fell asleep and eventually went to his bedroom while she was sleeping. When he discovered in the morning that she was gone, he was dis<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointed she hadn\u2019t left a note with her phone number, he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    In Breest\u2019s account, she didn\u2019t reciprocate Haggis\u2019 two attempts to kiss her, once while pinning her against a refrigerator, but didn\u2019t leave because she didn\u2019t want to offend a frequent premiere guest. She testified that he later pushed her on a bed, pulled her clothes off, aggressively demanded oral sex and \u2014 after she took a shower \u2014 raped her.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Haggis emailed her the next day about photos from the prior night\u2019s premiere. He said he hoped the reply would include her number. It didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    When they met at another event 10 days later, she was smiling and friendly, Haggis recalled, adding that their encounter was \u201ca little awkward,\u201d as sometimes happens after an initial sexual experience with someone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    He said he decided two days later that she was \u201ctoo emotionally immature\u201d and stopped responding to her emails.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Afterward, Haggis said, Breest would be \u201cnoticeably absent\u201d from her usual red-carpet post whenever he brought a girlfriend to events where she worked. But he said she was friendly and behaved normally when he didn\u2019t have a woman on his arm during the 4 1\/2 years between their sexual encounter and the filing of her lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    He said he never told anyone about his night with Breest. When his lawyer asked him how often he thought about it, he responded: \u201cHonest to God, never.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Haggis was also asked why he opposed providing DNA in connection with the lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    He said his only concern was that it would fall into the hands of Scientologists because he had a \u201cgrowing suspicion\u201d that they had a role in the lawsuit. His defense has suggested the case is payback for Haggis\u2019 public criticism of the Church of Scientology, which he left in 2009.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    The church and Breest\u2019s lawyers have called that argument a bogus conspiracy theory.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Haggis\u2019 lawyers have agreed that Breest has no ties to Scientology. No witnesses have testified that they have specific proof linking the church to her lawyers or to four women other than Breest who testified that Haggis also sexually assaulted them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Haggis denied the other women\u2019s allegations in emotional testimony, adding that he felt \u201chumiliated\u201d while testifying about the accusations as his adult daughters watched from the courtroom audience.
