The group argued that Biden\u2019s debt plan would cause irreparable harm to fellow PLF attorney Frank Garrison by automatically forgiving his debt and forcing him to pay state taxes on the forgiven amount.<\/p>\n<p>After the Education Department added a note on its website notifying individuals that they could opt-out of debt relief, a federal judge denied PLF\u2019s challenge but allowed the group to amend its complaint.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>PLF amended its complaint, adding a second plaintiff \u2014 Noel Johnson \u2014 and making it a class-action lawsuit. However, the district judge dismissed the case, ruling that Garrison and Johnson lacked standing.<\/p>\n<p>The group <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ealed and asked the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals to block Biden\u2019s loan forgiveness program but was again denied for a lack of standing. PLF then turned to the Supreme Court to block the program.<\/p>\n<p>Barrett\u00a0denied a similar emergency request\u00a0from a group of Wisconsin taxpayers in late October, which also sought to block Biden\u2019s debt plan from going into effect while it appealed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>The Wisconsin group\u2019s lawsuit, which argued that the White House does not have the authority to enact such a policy, was also dismissed by a lower court for a lack of standing.<\/p>\n<p>Another lawsuit filed by attorneys <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> from six GOP-led states was also initially dismissed for lack of standing. However, a federal appeals court agreed to temporarily block the Biden plan amid its appeal.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration\u2019s debt relief plan would forgive up to $10,000 in student loans for borrowers earning less than $125,000 and up to $20,000 for those that received Pell grants.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u2014<em>Updated at 5:20 p.m.<\/em>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
