Now that we\u2019re just under a month away from its newly-slated VOD release, Lionsgate is ramping up the movie\u2019s marketing campaign with a new clip which seems to serve as a meta-commentary about the film\u2019s mysterious premise.<br \/><\/br><span id=\"more-632664\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Antebellum_Clip\"><\/span>Antebellum Clip<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<blockquote data-dnt=\"true\" data-width=\"550\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\u201cSometimes what looks like anger, is really just fear\u2026\u201d <br \/><\/br>Watch the first exclusive clip from #Antebellum<br \/><\/br>September 18th \u2013 At Home | On Demand pic.<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">twitter<\/a>.com\/Alv3pfWPti<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 ANT?BELLUM (@antebellumfilm) August 20, 2020<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThings are not always what they appear to be\u201d could have been a tagline for this movie (OK, admittedly not a particularly inspired one, but still). But while this clip depicts a relatively run-of-the-mill instance of a cable <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> dunk session (against a man who, if the chyron description of him is accurate, likely holds some pretty despicable views about Black people), the trailers for the movie paint a much more beguiling picture of the story being told here.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Janelle Mon\u00e1e<\/strong>\u00a0(<em>Moonlight<\/em>, <em>Hidden Figures<\/em>) plays Veronica Henley, a doctor and author of a best-selling book called \u201cShedding the Coping Persona.\u201d She seems to be in a loving marriage to a man played by\u00a0<em>Dear White People<\/em> actor\u00a0<strong>Marque Richardson II<\/strong> (who is excellent in that show, by the way), they have a cute little daughter, and everything seems to be going just fine. That is, until a bunch of creepy white people tell Veronica that she\u2019s been chosen for\u2026something.<\/p>\n<p>The trailers wisely keep us in the dark about what exactly is going on, but it seems as if Veronica is jumping through time, almost like Desmond in that season 3 episode of <em>Lost<\/em>. Do they give Veronica a powerful hallucinogen that makes her think she\u2019s back in the antebellum South? Is she actually there?
