Now there\u2019s a new major update rolling out to Mastodon servers.<\/p>\n<p>Mastodon version 4.0 was released earlier today, following an extended testing period \u2014 beta and release candidate (RC) versions were already running on some servers, like <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/mastodon.social\/\">mastodon.social<\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/mastodon.online\/\">mastodon.online<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There are several improvements to hashtags, such as the ability to follow hashtags as if they were user accounts, so they <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ear in your Home timeline alongside posts from regular accounts. That might make your feed a bit more difficult to read, especially on larger servers that track more posts, but it could come in handy. Posts can now be <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/mastodon\/mastodon\/pull\/19218\">translated<\/a> from one language to another, using either <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.deepl.com\/translator\">DeepL<\/a> or <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/libretranslate.com\/\">LibreTranslate<\/a> behind the scenes, if the administrator running your server sets it up. You can also set preferred languages for trending status and links, and filter posts by language.<\/p>\n<p>There are many other minor changes in the update. You can now directly upload HEIC, AVIF, and WebP files, instead of converting them manually first. The web interface also looks slightly different, matching the project\u2019s current purple logo and color scheme, and changing the \u201cToot\u201d button to \u201cPublish.\u201d Server administrators can also create roles and assign them to specific accounts, like roles in web forums or Discord servers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED:<\/strong> <strong><em>New to Mastodon?
