We previously reported on the final moments leading up to his death and how other stars are reacting to it \u2014 but now Carter\u2019s best friend and manager is telling his point of view.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <em>The Sun<\/em> on Sunday, <strong>Big Umbrella Management<\/strong>\u2018s <strong>Taylor Helgeson<\/strong> opened up about the last time he heard from his friend \u2014 and hearing about Aaron\u2019s optimism about the future is world-shattering:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cHe was so excited, he was extremely optimistic. It was a few years since we released [his album] Love, and he felt ready to do another one.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-6373111572793-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>So sad\u2026 Especially now with how everyone is apparently going after quick money grabs and trying to release content as soon as possible following the star\u2019s passing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: Teen Mom Jenelle Evans Asks Fans For \u2018Prayers\u2019 After Going To Hospital<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>Taylor continued on to reveal the <em>Aaron\u2019s Party<\/em> singer had big plans for his new album <em>Love 2<\/em>:<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-6373111572798-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI got these incredible producers from Denmark to fly out to produce his album and it was the first time in a while that I\u2019ve seen him so excited. He had more [to give], and he didn\u2019t quit.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He said the day of the tragic incident, the musician was sharing even more excitement about the new music regardless of his struggles:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe last night, he texted me and he said, \u2018Bro, these songs are amazing.\u2019 And I said, \u2018I know, I can\u2019t wait until you record them.\u2019 And he said, \u2018I promise you, this is our best work yet.\u2019 He was really optimistic and he felt like he was dealing with a lot of problems, but he felt like he could handle it. This album was going to be him owning everything. He was going to take accountability, and he felt that was going to be the best way to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-637311157279d-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It\u2019s gut-wrenching he never got to see these works come to life\u2026<\/p>\n<p>The talent manager went on to reveal the very last text conversation he had with the 34-year-old before he died:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>[Aaron said] \u2018Checking in!\u2019<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63731115727a2-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>[And I replied] \u2018Hey, how are you doing?\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I\u2019m just headed back to the house. I was in L.A. All good though. Things are looking up.\u2019<\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>\u2018I know it.\u2019<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63731115727a8-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u2018Holy s**t! The new album, what the f**k? This is definitely a Grammy!\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Yeah, and you deserve it.\u2019<\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>\u2018Huge! Our best work yet.\u2019<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63731115727ae-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Tragically, that was the last time Taylor would ever hear from his friend:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAnd that was it. It was 6.32 pm. We don\u2019t know what happened. We know that he called me. I was on a plane, so he called my friend, his friend as well, and he asked to come to the house to record some music, to start tracking these vocals, and from what I heard that was around 9:30 pm. But he never made it to the house.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>Just tear-jerking\u2026<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63731115727b4-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Helgeson\u2019s intuition knew something wasn\u2019t quite right, though, when the<em> 7th Heaven<\/em> alum started missing his own shows:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAaron was a big Queen fan, and he lived by that saying, \u2018The Show Must Go On.\u2019 And he wouldn\u2019t miss a show for anything if he could help it. In the last few weeks, he missed some things, and that was so uncharacteristic of him, and I was upset.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>He said the pair were at odds the last few weeks of the star\u2019s life due to videos of him huffing surfacing online, and the talent agent used the \u201csilent treatment\u201d as a wake-up call like he\u2019d done in the past \u2014 but sadly this time it didn\u2019t work out:<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63731115727b9-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIt is so hard for me to explain it. He was so complicated and hard-headed, and I was too. If I didn\u2019t answer the phone for two days I would get thirty calls and he\u2019d ask \u2018What\u2019s wrong? What\u2019s wrong? What can I do?\u2019 Not many friends do that. We would talk several times a day, and I felt like that if I didn\u2019t respond to him [then] he would understand how serious I was about him dealing with this stuff. It just felt like, if I kept responding and I kept carrying on, that you keep getting a pass on yourself. So the last couple of days, after that conversation, in particular, it was the first time we\u2019d talked in like four days because I was so upset.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Big Umbrella Management agent recalled urging Aaron to get help to no avail:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s the last time we went back and forth, but he texted me a few times after that, and I left it because I was upset, and I was scared for him, and I just wanted him to feel that it was real, you know? As much as it sucks to admit, we were \u2026 I wouldn\u2019t say we were fighting, but I would say that I was at odds with him the last couple of days and weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63731115727be-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Taylor said his friend didn\u2019t take him seriously and although he said he was \u201cclean\u201d he would partake in other drugs behind closed doors. He said Carter would repeatedly tell him \u2014 and everyone else \u2014 the videos \u201cweren\u2019t real\u201d. No one seemed to be able to get through to him. The <em>I\u2019m All About You<\/em> singer reassured him that he was okay frequently:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI told him that I was scared for him and he texted me and told me, \u2018Don\u2019t be scared, I\u2019m always going to be here. Don\u2019t worry about me.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"highlight\">\u2018I\u2019m always going to be here.\u2019<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63731115727c3-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>So, so heartbreaking.<\/p>\n<p>The talent manager said he did everything he could \u2014 but the addiction was just too overbearing for his friend:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI know enough to know that you can\u2019t stop an addict. You can help try to show them what is happening and you can try to shepherd them, but you can\u2019t force anybody to do anything. That doesn\u2019t mean that I don\u2019t backtrack in my head and sometimes. I mean, I don\u2019t know what people expected of us. To tie him down? I\u2019d be lying if I didn\u2019t say that, at maybe at this point, I wish we would of \u2013 but that\u2019s not real life. Aaron was a grown man and he took control of his life in the way he chose, and no matter what we wanted, we couldn\u2019t force anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63731115727c9-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Heglson refused to speculate on any cause of death but remains Carter wasn\u2019t suicidal. A big turning point in the singer\u2019s mental health was his loss of custody and rocky relationship, though, because \u201call he ever wanted\u201d was a kid and a wife:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe losing custody part \u2026 that was really big. He was hurt but he wasn\u2019t hopeless \u2026 He would tell me that as soon as this was done, as soon as we figure out what\u2019s going to happen with Prince, then I will take care of that. You could basically say he was white-knuckling it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>Poor Aaron\u2026<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63731115727cd-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Taylor doesn\u2019t want his friend to only be remembered for his lows, though \u2014 in fact, he said he had a \u201cchildlike appreciation for life\u201d:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cHe was one of the funniest people I have met. He had no limit. He loved to provide other people with fun. He was quirky and his perception was different because he\u2019d seen so much. He had a child-like appreciation of life. He loved to see people happy. He had a carefreeness that was unrivaled. He was. 34-year-old doing backflips off a drum set on stage \u2013 who does that any more? \u2026\u00a0If you went into his house and opened his pantry it would look like how a 10-year-old kid\u2019s house would look if he had a million dollars.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>Aww, that sounds exactly like the Aaron Carter we all knew and still love so very much.<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63731115727d4-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Our hearts are with Taylor and the rest of Aaron\u2019s family and loved ones during this time.
