Concealed, corrupt, crooks, criminals, con men, carnival barkers and, finally, CZ,\u201d Roubini said \u2014 the latter being a reference to Zhao.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe regulators should be thinking carefully. Separately, the Justice Department and the Internal Revenue Service <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-05-13\/binance-probed-by-u-s-as-money-laundering-tax-sleuths-bore-in\">are reportedly investigating<\/a> Binance as part of a probe into potential money-laundering and tax-related violations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t believe CZ and Binance has a license to operate in the UAE. He\u2019s banned in the UK, he\u2019s under investigation by the US Justice Department for money laundering, $8 billion in money from Iran. He\u2019s here on this stage and he has residence in this country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an ecosystem that\u2019s totally corrupt. Earlier this week, the Wall Street Journal reported that BlockFi was preparing for a potential bankruptcy filing as it reeled from the FTX meltdown.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Sam Bankman-Fried, the disgraced ex-CEO of FTX, faces mounting legal and regulatory pressure amid reports that at least $1 billion in client funds is still missing.
