It notified the employees it cut on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe continue to face an unusual and uncertain macroeconomic environment,\u201d he said. \u201cIn light of this, we\u2019ve been working over the last few months to further prioritize what matters most to our customers and the business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Plans, still in flux, to eliminate around 10,000 roles through reductions in more units would amount to about a 3% cut in\u00a0Amazon\u2019s roughly 300,000-person corporate workforce.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>For years,\u00a0the online retailer once aimed to make Alexa, its voice assistant that powers the devices, ubiquitous and present to place any shopping order, even though it was unclear how widely users have embraced it for more complex tasks than checking the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> or weather.<\/p>\n<p>A project inspired by a talking computer in <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a> fiction show \u201cStar Trek,\u201d Alexa had garnered headcount that grew to 10,000 people by 2019.<\/p>\n<p>At the time,\u00a0Amazon\u00a0touted sales of more than 100 million Alexa devices, a figure it has not since refreshed publicly.
