\n Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Friday said he had his \u201cfingers crossed\u201d that Big App<\/a>le schools are ready to open safely \u2014 but admitted he is not sure he\u2019d send his own kids to one in the city.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would have a lot of questions,\u201d Cuomo admitted on the \u201cToday\u201d show when asked if he would send his children to New York City public schools amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a risky proposition no matter how you do it, let\u2019s be honest. We\u2019ve seen schools open \u2014 we\u2019ve seen colleges open \u2014 and get into trouble in one week. So there\u2019s a lot of questions to answer,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Asked how confident he was that they were actually ready to reopen, he said, \u201cFingers crossed on all of this.\u201d<\/p>\n

The governor stressed that schools would open only if parents and teachers were \u201chappy and confident\u201d to do so, and that it would be decided \u201cschool district by school district.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have 700 school districts and I\u2019m sure we\u2019re going to have 700 different answers in New York,\u201d he told the NBC breakfast show.<\/p>\n

Cuomo continued to boast about taking the Empire State from \u201cthe highest infection rate in the United States to the lowest.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo you can handle this beast if you\u2019re serious about it,\u201d he said. \u201cIf there\u2019s any state that can reopen schools, it\u2019s us.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
