Not a dinosaur or anything.<\/p>\n<p>Though the atmospheres are radically different and it\u2019s somewhat hard to breath on Mars, both planets <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ear to have pretty similar cloud formations. A study by the European Space Agency\u2019s (ESA) Mars Express spacecraft and NASA\u2019s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter examined dust storms on Mars, and found that clouds are formed in similar ways to clouds in Earth\u2019s tropical regions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen thinking of a Mars-like atmosphere on Earth, one might easily think of a dry desert or polar region,\u201d\u00a0ESA\u2019s Mars Express project scientist\u00a0Colin Wilson said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is quite unexpected then, that through tracking the chaotic movement of dust storms, that parallels can be drawn with the processes that occur in Earth\u2019s moist, hot, and decidedly very un-Mars-like tropical regions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In case you\u2019re planning a trip, the two planets are vastly different. Mars is cold and dry and composed mostly of carbon dioxide, whereas here on Earth we\u2019re fortunate to have nitrogen and oxygen. And the atmospheric densities (if you care about that sort of thing when <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>ling), are nothing alike, with Mars\u2019 clocking in at\u00a0less than one fiftieth of Earth\u2019s atmosphere. That\u2019s the equivalent of\u00a035 km above Earth\u2019s surface, according to the ESA.<\/p>\n<p>So scientists were a bit surprised at the cloud similarities. Using orbiting cameras onboard the Mars Express and NASA\u2019s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, they observed dust storms that occurred near the\u00a0Martian north pole. Spiral shapes are visible and their origin resembles extratropical cyclones on Earth. There are also similar\u00a0cloud cells arranged like grains or pebbles.<\/p>\n<p>One can imagine an astronomer looking at the images and joking, \u201cYou know what the Mars clouds look like? Rain!\u201d And getting absolute silence.<\/p>\n<p>In any case, such findings are about more than noticing that clouds look alike. Understanding how these dust storms on Mars form will help with future solar-powered missions to the red planet, as the storms can block light for solar cells.<\/p>\n<p>This will make it easier for people to one day stand under the clouds and wonder what they look like.
