\n Postmaster General Louis DeJoy began testifying before the Senate Friday amid uproar over disruptions in mail delivery ahead of November\u2019s election.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to assure this committee and the American public that the Postal Service is fully capable and committed to delivering the nation\u2019s election mail securely and on-time,\u201d DeJoy testified to the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. \u201cThis sacred duty is my number one priority between now and Election Day.\u201d<\/p>\n

The hearing is being held remotely with Congress on summer recess.<\/p>\n

Lawmakers are expected to grill DeJoy over the service debacle \u2014 the result of his cost-cutting measures to try to save the cash-strapp<\/a>ed agency.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, DeJoy suspended all mail service changes until after the Nov. 3 election, amid growing concern that mail-in ballots wouldn\u2019t be counted on time \u2014 and allegations that his measures are undermining the US Postal Service ahead of the election.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
