It\u2019s full of industry satire, including older writers clashing with the next generation and programming executives with no experience in programming.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Experience is something Greer doesn\u2019t lack. Her IMDb profile reads like a telephone book, and <em>Reboot<\/em> is one of just 10 roles she played in 2022 alone. So, while she was <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a> to discuss her new series when she hopped on a Zoom in October, the conversation kept turning to the perspective gained from one of the most uniquely prolific careers in Hollywood.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <strong><em>Reboot<\/em><\/strong><strong> reminded me a lot of <\/strong><strong><em>The TV Set<\/em><\/strong><strong>, Jake Kasdan\u2019s 2006 movie in which you played the manager of a writer whose pilot <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a> gets grossly distorted by the broadcast TV machine. Did you think of that at all?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    That movie\u2019s one of my favorite jobs I\u2019ve ever had. I loved making it, and I loved the finished product \u2014 which is not always the case. At the time it came out, it was weird \u2014 it kind of gave people nightmares. The reception from people in Hollywood was like, \u201cYeah, I saw it \u2026 <em>I saw it<\/em>.\u201d It was real \u2014 whereas I feel like the reception for <em>Reboot<\/em> has been a little better. I think we might be in a place where we\u2019re more willing to make fun of ourselves and see ourselves seeing. It did feel like <em>The TV Set<\/em> disturbed people in the industry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <strong>When I first went to an upfront presentation, I was like, \u201cOh, this is exactly how it was in <\/strong><strong><em>The TV Set<\/em><\/strong><strong>.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Of all the pilots I\u2019ve done, I haven\u2019t gotten that many picked up, so I\u2019ve only been to one real upfront. It was a really intense, long day \u2014 creepy sometimes. But it did feel like an honor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <strong>As much as they\u2019ve probably changed since 2006, there are still those weird corners at parties where they corral actors and force them to meet advertisers who \u2026 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Grab a little side boob? Yeah. Is that something that you set out to do?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Total accident, but I think I\u2019m in good company. It feels like everything is getting demystified these days \u2014 with <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a>, certainly. And it does go both ways, I guess. Everyone uses filters and FaceTune and all this shit, but, at the same time, we\u2019re all like, \u201cLook at what I ate today!\u201d The big movie stars of my generation are now doing TikTok videos and shit, and I\u2019m like, \u201cWhat about the mystery?\u201d It\u2019s funny to see inside everyone\u2019s houses, though. I am happy to just tell things like they are, as I see them. So while I don\u2019t totally think of myself as demystifying things, I will always give an honest answer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <strong>In <\/strong><strong><em>Reb<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>oot<\/em><\/strong><strong>, yo<\/strong><strong>u play an actress who\u2019s working for the first time in years \u2014 whereas you seem to have never stopped working. Do actor friends who\u2019ve had fallow periods ever ask you for advice? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Nobody asks me for a pep talk \u2014 not about that. But if they did, I wouldn\u2019t really know what to say. A career in the arts is like a human body. Every one is so specific and so different and evolving all the time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <strong>In terms <\/strong><strong>of you<\/strong><strong>r career evolution, what projects do you identify now as the big leaps forward? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    There were a couple. <em>13 Going on 30<\/em> was really good for me in that it was so successful and people loved it so much. I was in a movie a really long time ago called <em>Adaptation<\/em>. I had a really small role, but I felt like that moved the needle in a way that I hadn\u2019t noticed before. I felt another little rung of the ladder when I did <em>The Descendants<\/em> because it showed me in a different light that I don\u2019t think people had really seen me in before \u2014 just this one scene where I was really upset. Having someone like Alexander Payne pluck you is helpful, always.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <strong>There\u2019s a <\/strong><strong>partic<\/strong><strong>ularly funny episode of <\/strong><strong><em>Reboot<\/em><\/strong><strong> in which your character crashes the writers room. Have you ever been the actor in the writers room?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    On <em>Reboot<\/em>, I really wanted Lexy Perez Steve Levitan to meet my dog, Mary Richards. But the day I brought her to work, the timing was so weird that I had to text and be like, \u201cCan I come up to the writers room and introduce you to my dog?\u201d I had my wig on and the whole thing \u2014 I\u2019m basically Bree in that moment, bringing my dog up to the writers room as they\u2019re breaking stories and shit. I\u2019m just like, \u201cIsn\u2019t she so cute, just running around? Am I interrupting?\u201d (<em>Laughs<\/em>.) It was not lost on me what was happening in that moment, so I was like, \u201cOK, I\u2019m leaving now!\u201d I\u2019m always invited into the writers room, but I know better than to go.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <strong>You bri<\/strong><strong>efly ap<\/strong><strong>pear topless in the first episode, in a scene where your character reunites with her ex, played by Keegan-Michael Key, for the first time in years. On the page, does that make you laugh or does it make you uncomfortable? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Being topless was not in the script. What was written was her trying to get her top off and everything. When you\u2019re shooting scenes like that, you can wear a bandeau or pasties, but, when it comes down to it, it\u2019s a pain in the ass shooting around all kinds of undergarments. So I said, \u201cLet\u2019s just do the scene and then you guys can just deal with my boobs in the editing room.\u201d When the scene was edited together, they were like, \u201cWell, we have two versions, and there is a version where we can see your breasts \u2014 and it\u2019s very funny. We\u2019re never putting this in the show if you don\u2019t want to, but why don\u2019t you come and see what you think?\u201d So, I saw it, and I thought it was funny. Do you think it\u2019s funny?<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <strong>Yes<\/strong><strong>. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Right? I think that made it funnier. It\u2019s funny and awkward and surprising, and I feel like it might make the audience feel like how Reed [Key] was supposed to feel. There are so many different kinds of nudity, and that was nothing as far as my comfort level. If I was doing some crazy sex scene, I weirdly think it would be less interesting to me to show anything. This is comedy, and they\u2019re just boobs. We never freak out when dudes have their shirts off.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <strong>I wo<\/strong><strong>uld <\/strong><strong>not have asked about it if you were a man.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    It wouldn\u2019t have even come up! I\u2019m a little old-fashioned, so I do always ask my husband before I sign up on that stuff. He\u2019s such a good sport, and he\u2019s so supportive. We met when I was well into my career and I had already done it before.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <strong>I heard a<\/strong><strong>n in<\/strong><strong>terview with you in which you mentioned the trap of the \u201cwife-mom\u201d role once you play it. Has that been a slippery slope in terms of offers coming in?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    I had a really sweet conversation with my dad about this a long time ago. I think I\u2019d taken my first mom role, and I was complaining about it to him. And my dad says, \u201cThink of how many more roles you can play if you can also play a mom!\u201d Oh yeah. I\u2019m not going to speak for all actresses, but there\u2019s a time in your life, usually in your 30s, where you get those first couple of roles and you\u2019re like, \u201cSeriously?\u201d Then you get over it because, often, you actually are a mom. I did this movie with Lee Pace, a real hit called <em>Marmaduke<\/em>. I\u2019m sure you probably own it \u2026 The Criterion Collection.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <strong>I didn\u2019t<\/strong><strong> see it<\/strong><strong>. I\u2019m sorry.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Oh, really? I\u2019ll wait if you want to watch it real quick. I\u2019ll never forget making that. We had just gotten to Vancouver to shoot, and Lee and I were immediate friends, doing hair and makeup tests and costume fittings \u2014 and then this young woman walks in and she\u2019s like, \u201cHi, I\u2019m Caroline Sunshine. I\u2019m playing your daughter.\u201d We looked at her like, \u201cGet out!\u201d We were speechless, and I don\u2019t think we ever got over it. But that was a moment where I was like, \u201cWhoa, that\u2019s a grown-up playing my daughter.\u201d But my dad is right. There are all different sizes and types of mom roles, and some are bigger and better.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <strong>How is yo<\/strong><strong>ur c<\/strong><strong>areer in your 40s compared to what you maybe expected it to be?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Way better, even though I can\u2019t say that I had low expectations. Strangely, I\u2019ve always been very zen about my career \u2014 and no other part of my life. In every aspect of my life, I\u2019m a control freak and I obsess and stay up all night and I worry. But when it comes to work, I\u2019ve always felt really taken care of by the universe. I\u2019ve trusted when things do come my way and when they don\u2019t. There\u2019s so much content, and not every woman in her mid-40s is a mom or clich\u00e9. And Hollywood is making baby strides into more equality and more representation of women behind the scenes, making more roles for women like myself in front of the camera. The truth is, the older you get, the more complicated things can be \u2014 and so can the roles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <strong>What types of <\/strong><strong>role<\/strong><strong>s that you\u2019ve yet to play are most interesting to you? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    I\u2019ve done so much. I\u2019ve been so lucky. But there are two things I haven\u2019t done \u2014 an action movie, like Jason Bourne action, and a deep period movie. I\u2019ve done the 1950s, \u201960s and \u201970s, but I\u2019ve never done a corsets-and-no-tampons period piece. I guess I did <em>The Village<\/em>, which was kind of a period piece \u2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <strong>The pe<\/strong><strong>riod <\/strong><strong>was the twist. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Yeah, we were wearing corsets, but we didn\u2019t know that it was present day.
