Having grossed more than $400 million worldwide to date, the film is at once deeply present, and Afrofuturist while dwelling in the past; the im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>te invocation of the ancestors and portrayal of inherited traditions guide the sequel\u2019s cast of characters in the absence of the late Chadwick Boseman (T\u2019Challa) in order to carry the next generation forward.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    When reflecting on her preparation for the role of Nakia, Lupita Nyong\u2019o tells <em>The Hollywood Reporter <\/em>she had to face the task she was given, \u201cwhich was of a woman who was at a different stage of accepting the loss than I was.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cIt was very hard to lose Chadwick, [but] he was not to me what he was to Nakia. So I couldn\u2019t even imagine what it would be like to go on after losing the love of your life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    She took inspiration from Boseman\u2019s widow, Simone Ledward Boseman.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cI remember at his memorial service, bearing witness to Simone \u2026 and the strength that she possessed. I remember being so shocked because I was broken. She was so grounded, she was like an oak,\u201d Nyong\u2019o says. \u201cWhen I was getting ready for Nakia I thought about her a lot. Because she knew what we did not, in the same way Nakia seems to be a lot wiser and more sage with death and grief than I was.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-content-image \/\/  \">\n<figure class=\"o-figure   size-large alignnone lrv-u-max-width-100p\" style=\"width:100%; max-width:1000px;\">\n<div class=\"c-lazy-image  \">\n<div class=\"lrv-a-crop-16x9\" style=\"padding-bottom:calc((415\/1000)*100%);\">\n<p>                        <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/MCDBLPA_WD050-copy.jpg?w=1000\" alt=\"Black Panther Wakanda Forever\" srcset=\"\" data-lazy-sizes=\"(min-width: 87.5rem) 1000px, (min-width: 78.75rem) 681px, (min-width: 48rem) 450px, (max-width: 48rem) 250px\" height=\"415\" width=\"1000\" decoding=\"\"\/><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div><figcaption class=\"c-figcaption  lrv-u-padding-tb-025\"><span class=\"a-font-secondary-s lrv-u-margin-r-025\">Black Panther: Wakanda Forever<\/span><\/p>\n<p>                                    <cite class=\"a-font-accent-uppercase-xs lrv-u-color-grey-dark\">Everett<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Danai Gurira, who reprises her role as Okoye, says that stepping back into the <em>Black Panther<\/em> universe for the sequel, especially without Boseman, was marked by a feeling of disorientation and displacement for her. But fortunately, director Ryan Coogler personally walked each actor through their adjusted character arcs (given the real world changes that surrounded the film), long before they came back to set, \u201cso I had an understanding of what type of journey I was about to take for Okoye,\u201d Gurira tells <em>THR.<\/em> <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Continues Gurira: \u201cIf you do do a sequel, allow the characters to go through some shifts, to end up where they wouldn\u2019t expect, to be stretched and for their humanness to be expanded. I think that\u2019s what I\u2019m thankful for about this world, is that we get to meet these characters in the first [film], but in this one they get stretched and expanded and stressed and taxed, and that allows for complex characters to take more hold.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    When Nyong\u2019o was introduced to the revised script, she \u201cwept uncontrollably,\u201d she says, \u201cbecause I was relieved to know that we would be honoring Chadwick, and that Nakia got this continued story that allowed her to grow and be in a different stage in her life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    This second cinematic chapter in the <em>Black Panther <\/em>storyline not only introduces expanded characters but also a broadened depiction of representation for communities of color on screen.
