\n Ghislaine Maxwell\u2019s chance of a fair trial will be impossible if a deposition she gave four years ago about her sex life is made public \u2014 which will \u201clet the cat out of the bag,\u201d her lawyers argued in a new court filing.<\/p>\n

The attorneys for Maxwell made the argument in a filing Thursday with the Second Circuit Court of App<\/a>eals, urging the court to overturn a judge\u2019s ruling that the material be unsealed.<\/p>\n

They argued Maxwell, 58, gave the deposition after it was agreed that it would remain confidential \u2014 and that making it public now would infringe on her right to a fair trial due to the media<\/a> frenzy and negative publicity it could generate.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the unsealing order goes into effect, it will forever let the cat out of the bag,\u201d the court papers state.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government has indicted Ghislaine Maxwell. The media have all but convicted her,\u201d it continued.<\/p>\n

The judge who ordered the deposition unsealed, the lawyers added, also did not give \u201cadequate weight\u201d to Maxwell\u2019s privacy.<\/p>\n

If the material is unsealed, intimate and sensitive material about Maxwell will \u201cspread like wildfire across the Internet,\u201d they wrote.<\/p>\n

The deposition includes statements Maxwell made about \u201cconsensual, and intimate conduct with other adults,\u201d according to previously filed court documents.<\/p>\n

Maxwell gave the deposition in the civil defamation case brought against her by Jeffrey Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre.<\/p>\n

Maxwell has since been criminally charged with procuring underage girls for Epstein to abuse and for lying under oath in the Giuffre case. She\u2019s pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n

Her trial in the case is scheduled to begin next summer.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
