“#Mets\u2019 coronavirus crisis puts Subway Series<\/a> in shambles<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n As the Mets await the results of their most recent COVID-19 tests, the entire Subway Series this weekend has been postponed.<\/p>\n

Friday\u2019s series opener had already been called off, after a Mets position player and coach tested positive Thursday in Miami, but MLB has now postponed the rest of the three-game<\/a> set at Citi Field \u201cout of an abundance of caution and to allow for additional testing and contact tracing,\u201d the league announced Friday.<\/p>\n

The Mets flew back to New York on Thursday night \u2014 without the player and coach who tested positive, as they remained quarantined in Miami \u2014 and underwent COVID-19 tests upon arriving. They were set to undergo an additional round of testing Friday morning to see if the virus had spread beyond the two positives.<\/p>\n

Thursday\u2019s series finale against the Marlins was also postponed. It remains to be seen how soon the Mets can get back on the field. Most recently, the Reds had one positive COVID-19 test and it resulted in three games being postponed over four days.<\/p>\n

The Mets and Yankees are currently scheduled to meet again next weekend at Yankee Stadium. The teams also both have an off day Monday, creating the potential of making up a game or two then if the Mets\u2019 positive tests are contained.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
