The total amount moved totaled $199.3 million at current prices. <\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2022-11\/d61121f3-c893-47be-a2fa-1e3f5f4b933e.PNG\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Recent transactions from wallet labeled &#8220;FTX Accounts Drainer&#8221; \u2014 Source: Etherscan<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>At the time of publication, the ETH has not moved from any of the 12 wallets. <\/p>\n<p>Some in the crypto community suggest the attacker may be planning to subdivide it into smaller and smaller amounts in order to confuse investigators, a process known as \u201cpeel chaining,\u201d or they may be planning to use a mixing service at some point to obscure which coins are theirs.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, some Ethereum users <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ear to have sent coded messages to the hacker asking for a share of the loot.<\/p>\n<p>One user registered the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domain name, \u201cftx-rekt200k-pls-help.eth\u201d to express that they have lost money from the FTX collapse and to ask for a reimbursement from the hacker. <\/p>\n<p>They <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/etherscan.io\/address\/0xb937eb52cfed2edc08d9d26bd7d40b4aea9b61b4\">sent<\/a> 21 transactions of 0.000001 Ether to the hacker\u2019s address in an attempt to get noticed.<\/p>\n<p>Another user was even more creative. They registered the ENS domain, \u201cpleasecheckutf8data.eth\u201d and sent 12 transactions of 0.0001 ETH or less to the hacker\u2019s wallet address. <\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2022-11\/37c6f4fd-008a-4c2e-a6eb-482830d1aab8.PNG\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>An encoded message asking the FTX Accounts Drainer for a share of funds. Source: Etherscan<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Inside each transaction was a UTF8 encoded message that said \u201cPlease send me 100k~, I have medical bills to pay and visit the USA this coming December. I can&#8217;t walk properly, and have aggressive muscle issues. Please help! I lost most of my money on FTX.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The message also contained a link to an Imgur post which the user claimed was proof of their medical appointment.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>FTX hacker dumps 50,000 ETH, still among top 40 Ether holders<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The hack occurred on Nov. 11, the same day that FTX filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. <\/p>\n<p>On November 20, the attacker transferred 50,000 ETH to a separate wallet and then converted it to Bitcoin using two separate renBTC bridges. <\/p>\n<p>As of today, the hacker is the 40th largest holder of ETH. <\/p>\n<p><template data-name=\"subscription_form\" data-type=\"crypto_biz\"><\/template><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
