Wall Street analysts<strong> <\/strong>and company watchers<strong> <\/strong>had been expecting<strong> <\/strong>a reorganization of the company\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> and entertainment division,<strong> <\/strong>as Iger seeks to reshape the company\u2019s streaming strategy and return to a structure that prioritizes greater decision-making by creatives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    In a note to Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution\u00a0employees Monday, Iger said he would be \u201cimplementing organizational and operating changes\u201d within the company over the next few weeks. This most directly impacts the group organized under Daniel. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cI\u2019ve asked Dana Walden, Alan Bergman, Jimmy Pitaro, and Christine McCarthy to work together on the design of a new structure that puts more decision-making back in the hands of our creative teams and rationalizes costs, and this will necessitate a reorganization of Disney Media &amp; Entertainment Distribution. As a result, Kareem Daniel will be leaving the company, and I hope you will all join me in thanking him for his many years of service to Disney,\u201d Iger wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cOur goal is to have the new structure in place in the coming months. Without question, elements of DMED will remain, but I fundamentally believe that storytelling is what fuels this company, and it belongs at the center of how we organize our businesses,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    This is the first big change of many Iger is expected to make as he re-enters the organization. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    After taking over the role in February 2020, one of Chapek\u2019s first moves was to reorganize Disney to prioritize its streaming ambitions. He created the new media and entertainment distribution group, charged with the dissemination and ad sales for Disney content, including on Disney+ and in theaters. The division had a vast amount of responsibility, which included the distribution, operations, sales, advertising data and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> across all Disney content, and ultimately carried the weight of the group\u2019s profits and losses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Chapek t<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ed Daniel, a 14-year veteran of the company at the time, to head the division.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    The consolidated power of the group differed from Iger\u2019s vision of relying on creative talent and ideas throughout the company, which he emphasized in June 2021 at the company\u2019s annual retreat.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cIn a world and business that is awash with data, it is tempting to use data to answer all of our questions, including creative questions,\u201d Iger said at the time. \u201cI urge all of you not to do that.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    There was also concern among Wall Street that the creation of the division \u201chas hurt the morale of the creative leadership and has created more bureaucracy, which has slowed decision-making,\u201d wrote MoffettNathanson analyst Michael Nathanson. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    And while Disney\u2019s streaming business saw growing subscriber numbers, most recently reaching more than 235 million across Disney+, ESPN and Hulu, the division\u2019s losses have continued to grow, hitting close to $1.5 billion in the most recent quarter. This may hamper Disney\u2019s goal of making its streaming business profitable starting in fiscal year 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    It also contributed to the wider view that Chapek has been following a streaming strategy laid out in the company\u2019s December 2020 Investor Day, which set \u201cunrealistically high subscriber targets without a grasp for the underlying return on investment,\u201d as Nathanson said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Before taking on the job, Daniel had recently worked as president of consumer products, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>s and publishing. In his prior role as president of Walt Disney imagineering operations, product creation, publishing and games, Daniel\u2019s work intersected with that of Chapek\u2019s, who was then in charge of the company\u2019s parks division.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Iger\u2019s full memo is below:<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <em>Dear DMED Employees, <\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <em>As we embark on the transformative work that I mentioned to you in my email last night, I want to begin by offering my sincere appreciation and gratitude to each and every one of you.
