Ron DeSantis of Florida speaks during a campaign rally on Nov. 7, 2022, in Hialeah, Fla.<\/p>\n<p>Though DeSantis was seen as a likely 2024 challenger even before the midterms, Republicans saw his reelection in Florida \u2014 by a whopping 19 points over Democrat Charlie Crist \u2014 as a silver lining in a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>ly tough slew of elections for Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>The Florida governor, best known for going head-to-head with the Biden administration over COVID-19 restrictions and stoking the culture wars against companies like Disney, has evaded questions about whether he\u2019ll run in 2024. But over the weekend, his remarks suggested he isn\u2019t shying away from a bid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn times like these, there is no substitute for victory. We in Florida are the light. Freedom will reign supreme with Florida leading the way,\u201d DeSantis said Saturday at a Republican Jewish Coalition meeting, later adding, \u201cWe\u2019ve accomplished more over a four-year period than anybody thought possible, but I can tell you this: We\u2019ve got a lot more to do, and I have only begun to fight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Republicans say DeSantis is buoyed by his successful gubernatorial reelection, GOP strategist and former Trump campaign alum Brian Seitchik also noted that \u201che has a very favorable legislature. Brian Kemp (R).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd if Biden succeeds in getting back in the Iran deal, I will make you a promise. I\u2019ve said it before. The next president will shred it on her first day in office,\u201d Haley said to applause during the Republican Jewish Coalition meeting.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>A former ambassador to the U.N. and a former two-term South Carolina governor, Haley is lauded in Republican circles for her impressive r\u00e9sum\u00e9. But some members of the party suggest Trump\u2019s 2024 presidential bid complicates the prospects of candidates like Haley and others who worked in Trump\u2019s administration and might be viewed as \u201cTrump-adjacent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s the problem some of these Trump-adjacent candidates have. [Mike] Pompeo, [Mike] Pence. Some of these people \u2014 I mean they were in his administration. So why would someone choose you \u2026 when they could choose Trump?\u201d said GOP strategist Scott Jennings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Haley has previously said that she wouldn\u2019t run if Trump mounted a bid in 2024,\u00a0telling The Associated Press in 2021\u00a0that she\u2019d talk to the former president about it. Like Haley, Pompeo would come to a possible White House bid with foreign policy experience.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Seitchik said that Pompeo was \u201ccertainly qualified for the job\u201d but also noted that the former secretary of State \u201cdoesn\u2019t have a natural fundraising base. Terry McAuliffe (D), making him the first Republican in more than a decade to flip the seat red. The Maryland governor has confirmed he\u2019s considering a possible bid, but some Republicans aren\u2019t sure if his brand of \u201cnever-Trumpism\u201d could bode well with blocs of the GOP who still embrace Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think if your identity is as a never-Trumper, remember the votes you\u2019re competing for are a bunch of people who voted for Trump twice. Again, he\u2019s qualified to do the job.
