jams galore \u2014 just like old times.<\/p>\n<p> Airports and roads may be \u201cjam-packed\u201d this year, according to the American Automobile Association. It estimates that 53.6 million people will <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> for the Thanksgiving weekend, reaching 98% of pre-pandemic Thanksgiving travel.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       The Transportation Security Administration said it could screen as many as 2.5 million passengers at checkpoints nationwide on Wednesday, Nov. 23, which may even surpass 2.5 million passengers on Sunday, Nov. 27.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTravel volumes this year have been notably higher leading up to holiday weekends, and this Thanksgiving travel period, travel volumes may reach pre-pandemic levels,\u201d the TSA said in a statement ahead of the Thanksgiving weekend.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Last summer\u2019s \u201crevenge travel\u201d does not <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ear to have abated. \u201cExpect crowds during your trip and at your destination,\u201d Twidale said. \u201cIf your schedule is flexible, consider off-peak travel times during the holiday rush.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFamilies and friends are eager to spend time together this Thanksgiving, one of the busiest for travel in the past two decades,\u201d said Paula Twidale, senior vice president, AAA Travel. \u201cPlan ahead and pack your patience, whether you\u2019re driving or flying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, Anthony Fauci, President Joe Biden\u2019s chief medical adviser, addressed reporters for the last time ahead of his retirement, urged Americans who have not yet gotten their updated booster to do so quickly, saying it\u2019s the best one thus far.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[What] may be the final message I give you from this podium is that please, for your own safety, for that of your family, get your updated COVID-19 shot as soon as you\u2019re eligible,\u201d Fauci told reporters.<\/p>\n<div data-layout=\"inline\n                \" data-layout-mobile=\"\" class=\"\n          media-object\n          type-InsetPullQuote\n            inline\n    scope-web|mobileapps\n  article__inset\n          article__inset--type-InsetPullQuote\n            article__inset--inline\n  \"><\/p>\n<div class=\"wsj-article-pullquote article__inset__pullquote \">\n<p class=\"pullquote-content article__inset__pullquote__quote\">\n        <span class=\"l-qt article__inset__pullquote__mark--left\">\u201c<\/span>\u2018It\u2019s almost like the Roaring Twenties after the 1918 flu.\u2019<span class=\"r-qt article__inset__pullquote__mark--right\">\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>        <small><br \/>\n          <span class=\"inset-author article__inset__pullquote__author\">\u2014 Charles Lindsey, associate professor at the University at Buffalo<\/span><br \/>\n        <\/small><\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>       This year, most travelers will drive to see family and friends. Nearly 49 million people are predicted to travel by automobile. Overall Thanksgiving road trips are up 0.4% from 2021, but car travel still remains 2.5% shy of 2019 levels.<\/p>\n<p> Air travel is up nearly 8% over last year, AAA said, with 4.5 million people flying for their Thanksgiving turkey this year. That\u2019s approximately 330,000 travelers more than 2021, and nearly 99% of the 2019 volume.<\/p>\n<div id=\"cx-membership-tile\"><\/div>\n<p>Delta Air Lines<br \/>\n        DAL,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/200327741\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+0.76%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       said it expects to carry nearly 6 million customers from Nov. 18-29, averaging close to 500,000 customers per day, while<strong> <\/strong>American Airlines<br \/>\n        AAL,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/209207041\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+3.15%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       anticipates serving 6.8 million<strong> <\/strong>customers over Thanksgiving weekend.<\/p>\n<p>But economic uncertainty lingers. Tech companies are laying off staff. Savings are slowly being eroded, he added, \u201cbut it\u2019s another thing, along with the strong job market, that is supporting spending, at least for now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And yet people are celebrating Thanksgiving. \u201cConsumers are definitely sending mixed signals in these interesting times,\u201d Charles Lindsey, associate professor in the Marketing School of Management at the University at Buffalo, told MarketWatch.\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s almost like the Roaring Twenties after the 1918 flu.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a result of the pandemic, in certain areas such as travel, dining out, etc., there is \u2018pent-up\u2019 demand and consumers are indulging (somewhat) in spite of record inflation and fears concerning the economy,\u201d Lindsey said.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the near-record number of travelers this weekend, consumers are also feeling uncertain about the economic outlook, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York\u2019s survey of consumer expectations\u00a0released this month. <\/p>\n<p>The share of people who expect higher jobless rates a year from now has reached a high not seen since April 2020.
