(AP Photo\/Hussein Sayed)<\/figcaption><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Stranded World Cup fans who hoped to stay in &#8220;fan villages&#8221; are being <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/soccer\/fifa-world-cup\/story\/4812342\/stranded-world-cup-fans-offered-refunds-after-negligence\" data-ylk=\"slk:offered full refunds\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">offered full refunds<\/a> by the Supreme Committee in charge of organizing the event, according to ESPN.<\/p>\n<p>Those fans were left without acceptable accommodations after &#8220;fan village&#8221; sites were left without basic amenities, like toilets and wash basins. The &#8220;fan villages&#8221; were constructed to allow World Cup fans to attend the event cheaply. For $200 a night, fans believed they would be staying in a converted shipping container furnished with basic amenities. When those fans arrived, they discovered some of the sites were unfinished and still under construction.<\/p>\n<p>After outrage and complaints, the Supreme Committee, which is run by the Qatari government, issued full refunds to those fans. The Committee issued a statement to ESPN, saying the sites were managed by &#8220;private entities&#8221; and did not meet &#8220;required standards that were advertised to fans.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Before the World Cup started, pictures emerged showing what <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ears to be a finished \u2014 or nearly finished \u2014 &#8220;fan village.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Those images show multiple shipping containers dressed up to look like mini houses, a soccer pitch and a communal viewing area.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Fan_villages_present_yet_another_World_Cup_controversy\"><\/span>Fan villages present yet another World Cup controversy<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The decision to host the World Cup in Qatar <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/welcome-to-qatar-the-most-controversial-world-cup-host-ever-200014327.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:was criticized;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp yahoo-link\">was criticized <\/a>almost im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely.
