The directors of\u00a0Ready or Not<\/em> <\/strong>are set to helm\u00a0Scream 5<\/em><\/strong>, and they almost brought their\u00a0Ready or Not\u00a0<\/em>star along with them. Samara Weaving<\/strong>, who was absolute fire in that horror-comedy, has revealed she was very close to joining the\u00a0Scream 5<\/em> cast but had to pass due to scheduling issues. And now I\u2019m very, very sad. While I still have high-hopes for\u00a0Scream 5<\/em>, I will forever be disappointed that Weaving isn\u2019t a part of the film.<\/p>\n

Scream 5<\/em> is bringing back some familiar faces: both\u00a0David Arquette<\/strong> and Courtney Cox<\/strong> are coming back, and Neve Campbell<\/strong> has said she\u2019s been talking with the filmmakers about returning, too. But the film will also bring in new cast members as well.\u00a0Melissa Barrera<\/strong> and Jenna Ortega<\/strong> have both been cast, and now it\u2019s been revealed that they were almost joined by Samara Weaving.<\/p>\n

Weaving appeared in\u00a0Ready or Not\u00a0<\/em>from directors\u00a0Matt Bettinelli-Olpin<\/strong> and Tyler Gillett<\/strong>, and Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett are directing\u00a0Scream 5<\/em>. While speaking with Collider, Weaving revealed that the duo offered her a part in the film, but scheduling got in the way:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were talking about it, but our schedules aren\u2019t gonna work, which is a bummer. We talked about it a lot, but unfortunately, because of scheduling, I couldn\u2019t do it. I\u201dll still be [in Australia], working on\u00a0Nine Perfect Stranger<\/em>s<\/em>, so we couldn\u2019t make it work. Travel<\/a>ing is very difficult these days.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Weaving also praised the filmmakers, saying: \u201cThey just really know tone, and they are such a great team. Matt and Tyler are just incredible. They\u2019re so collaborative and they\u2019re really open-minded, both with producers and also with their actors and writers. They\u2019re really respectful. I think that they\u2019re gonna be really, really huge.\u201d<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve become a big fan of Weaving based on her work in\u00a0Mayhem<\/em> and\u00a0Ready or Not<\/em>, so I\u2019m\u00a0really<\/em> disappointed to hear she\u2019s unable to pop-up in\u00a0Scream 5<\/em>, a film I\u2019m looking forward to. Oh well, I\u2019ll have to just dream of what could\u2019ve been.<\/p>\n

Plot details for\u00a0Scream 5<\/em> remain shrouded in secrecy, but the fact that the filmmakers are planning on bringing back original cast members guarantees this isn\u2019t just going to be a remake\/reboot.<\/p>\n
