In the US and Australia, their use is focused on small deliveries, with companies like\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/wing.com\/\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Wing<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> (funded by Alphabet), <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flytrex.com\/\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Flytrex<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, and\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flyzipline.com\/\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Zipline<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, delivering small food, grocery, and medication orders to restricted residential areas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In Europe, there\u2019s only Irish startup <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manna.aero\/balbriggan\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Manna<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> currently delivering groceries, food and medication in Balbriggan, County Dublin. These operate with a model where goods are typically dropped in backyards or on a front lawn, raising last-metre challenges for apartment-dwellers in European cities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Regional_droneports_will_roll_out_soon\"><\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Regional droneports will roll out soon<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The grant supports the development and roll-out of Dronamics\u2019 cargo drone fleet, the deployment of the first droneports in its network, as well as operations in Europe.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Currently, the European Droneport Network includes more than 35 airports in 11 European countries, including Belgium, Croatia, Finland, Italy, and Sweden.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" srcdoc=\"&lt;style&gt;*{padding:0;margin:0;overflow:hidden}html,body{background:#000;height:100%}img{position:absolute;top:0;left:0;width:100%;height:100%;object-fit:cover;transition:opacity .1s cubic-bezier(0.4,0,1,1)}a:hover img+img{opacity:1!important}&lt;\/style&gt;&lt;a href=\" https:=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/img.youtube.com\/vi\/aa-F0KyL2nk\/hqdefault.jpg\" style=\"top: 50%;left:50%;width:68px;height:48px;transform:translate3d(-50%,-50%,0)\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The droneports have many advantages over other cargo delivery, such as easily integrating into customer supply chains. Each droneport requires minimal infrastructure and can be installed at unused airfields, airports, seaports, logistic centres, and factory lots. All that\u2019s needed are paved or unpaved airstrips over 400m long. This reduces the cost of set-up and infrastructure, creating a more sustainable product offering.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_challenge_of_making_middle-range_transport_sustainable\"><\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The challenge of making middle-range transport sustainable\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Furthermore, while drone deliveries are\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">a huge win for the environment<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> compared to gas-guzzling vehicles, to date, curiously, there are no environmental subsidies for the use of delivery drones, unlike electric cars, vans, trucks, and bikes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Dronamics has its attention on future sustainability, but getting a drone to fly long distances with heavy cargo is a challenging task, so most companies deploy their aircraft with fuel until they have enough evidence of their proven business model. But Dronamics are trying a different <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roach.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The company recently\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cranfieldaerospace.com\/caes-combine-expertise-with-dronamics\/\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">partnered<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> with aviation tech developer Cranfield Aerospace Solutions (CAeS) to integrate hydrogen fuel cells into their aircraft. Currently, aircraft flying the same distance with the same cargo weight use fuel, due to the challenge of long-distance flights powered by batteries or hydrogen. Fortunately, there\u2019s an abundance of R&amp;D in this area, so we can expect big things in the coming years. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The company is also in partnership with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/zeropetroleum.com\/\">Zero Petroleum<\/a> who offers a<\/span><span class=\"_2PHJq public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\"><span> direct drop-in replacement for existing fossil-based fuel, delivering the same performance and range sustainably and fossil-free. It is manufactured by extracting hydrogen from water and capturing carbon from atmospheric carbon dioxide, a process that is entirely sustainable when using renewable energy sources such as wind or solar. When burned it emits exactly the same amount of carbon as is used in its production, creating a fully circular process. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Drones are essential if Europe wants to meet its climate change targets. The aviation industry has a collective goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. If the partnership can successfully develop a green hydrogen solution, it will accelerate the goal of sustainable, unpolluting fast drone delivery in the middle mile. This means fewer trucks on the roads, less road traffic, and lower pollution levels.
