Earlier in the year, Team Biden re-purposed billions of dollars to buy 170 million doses of the new bivalent COVID-19 vaccine. The problem is, few people are getting the shots. <\/p>\n<p>The <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/covid.cdc.gov\/covid-data-tracker\/#vaccinations_vacc-people-booster-percent-pop5\">CDC reports<\/a> that just 35 million people \u2014 roughly 11% of the population and only 15% of the 227 million people who have completed the primary vaccine <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> and are eligible for the new booster \u2014 have taken it in the three months since it was authorized.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But instead of examining why the response is so poor, the administration is resorting to its usual solution \u2014 spend more money.\u00a0 White House COVID-19 response coordinator, Dr. Ashish Jha, has just <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/insidehealthpolicy.com\/daily-news\/hhs-prf-money-reprioritized-boosters-congress-didn%25E2%2580%2599t-act\">announced\u00a0a \u201csix-week sprint\u201d<\/a> to convince Americans to get their updated vaccines.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/insidehealthpolicy.com\/sites\/insidehealthpolicy.com\/files\/documents\/2022\/nov\/he2022_3106.pdf\">White House fact sheet<\/a> for the new campaign reports that already \u201cOver 70,000 locations are offering the updated COVID-19 vaccines, and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has taken steps this month to expand to even more locations.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/joe-biden-covid-update.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"A picture of President Biden. \" class=\"wp-image-24785520\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/joe-biden-covid-update.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/joe-biden-covid-update.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/joe-biden-covid-update.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>The Biden administration re-purposed billions of dollars to buy 170 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine earlier this year.<br \/>\n<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App<\/a>arently, that is not enough. The administration says it will pilfer another $475 million from the Provider Relief Fund \u2014 meant to preserve the healthcare system by financially supporting providers who experienced lost revenues and increased expenses during the pandemic \u2014 to boost bivalent booster uptake. The program will \u201cinvest\u201d (this administration never spends) $350 million into community health centers to raise booster awareness and expand vaccination activities. Another $125 million will go \u201cto national organizations that serve people with disabilities and older adults to support community vaccination programs and efforts.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The campaign will include a paid <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> effort targeting Americans 50 and older and those with chronic conditions with a TV ad called \u201cCan\u2019t Wait.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Who are the beneficiaries of this largess? The same organizations have already been lavishly funded to increase vaccinations. This is not a publicity problem. It is a demand problem.<\/p>\n<p>People will not be vaccinated for a disease that they think poses little risk to them. New COVID cases, ER visits for COVID, and COVID hospitalizations peaked three months ago and have been\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/covid.cdc.gov\/covid-data-tracker\/#trends_weeklycases_select_00\">declining<\/a>\u00a0since. The last time there were high numbers of vaccinations was in mid-December 2021, coincident with the Omicron surge.<\/p>\n<p>Demand has also been hurt by the fact that vaccines have little effectiveness in decreasing transmission of the newest viral variants. Breakthrough infections, some serious and even leading to death, are common leading <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/11\/23\/vaccinated-people-now-make-up-majority-covid-deaths\/\">the Washington Post to recently declare<\/a> that \u201cCovid is no longer mainly a Pandemic of the Unvaccinated.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The administration insists it \u201cwas forced to reprioritize resources due to a lack of funding from Congress\u201d needed to \u201cincrease vaccination levels ahead of a potential winter COVID surge.\u201d So far, that surge has not materialized and demand for the new boosters is unlikely to increase until it does.<\/p>\n<p>The solution to every problem is not \u2014 as the Biden administration apparently believes \u2014 to spend more money. The administration has already wasted billions buying millions of booster doses that will likely never be used.
