Wade, warning that elected Republican officials would work to implement a ban at the national and state levels.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>And while the midterms may have come and gone, Democrats are insisting there is much campaigning to do with the issue on the campaign trail over the next two years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWomen\u2019s reproductive rights [are] essential to the American people \u2014 American women and men,\u201d said Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) on a press call with the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee last week. \u201cThey rose and they said that in this election and we are here to protect that for them, and we will continue to do that, and I believe it will continue to be an issue until we can codify Roe into law for all Americans.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text\">\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column\">\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Black_Friday_and_Cyber_Monday_deals_from_BestReviews\"><\/span><strong>Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals from BestReviews: <\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wp-block-column\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1080\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/Post-022.jpg?w=720\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3744575\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/Post-022.jpg 1080w, https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/Post-022.jpg?resize=300,300 300w, https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/Post-022.jpg?resize=768,768 768w, https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/Post-022.jpg?resize=720,720 720w, https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/Post-022.jpg?resize=645,645 645w, https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/Post-022.jpg?resize=100,100 100w, https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/Post-022.jpg?resize=200,200 200w, https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/Post-022.jpg?resize=600,600 600w, https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/Post-022.jpg?resize=50,50 50w, https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/Post-022.jpg?resize=876,876 876w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 899px) 100vw, 876px\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"><\/div>\n<p>While many strategists and pundits expressed skepticism that abortion would be a driving issue for voters in the midterms, the issue proved to play a key role in Democrats\u2019 wins.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-seven percent of voters said abortion was the issue that mattered the most this year, topped only by inflation at 32 percent,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2022-election\/inflation-abortion-lead-list-voter-concerns-nbc-news-exit-poll-finds-rcna56258\">according to exit polling from NBC News.<\/a>\u00a0Exit polling from CNN yielded nearly identical results, with 31 percent naming inflation as their top issue and 27 percent saying the same about abortion.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you look at this election in 2022, it\u2019s very clear that abortion and the economy were top of mind for voters and Democrats were winning on the economy,\u201d said Christina Polizzi, communications director at the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee. \u201cAbortion rights is an economic issue.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There were signs that abortion did stand to be a strong issue in the lead-up to the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> election,\u00a0such as the rejection of a restrictive abortion ballot measure in Kansas and the victory of now-Rep. Pat Ryan (D) in a New York special election, where he made the issue a centerpiece of his campaign.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cVoters don\u2019t take lightly to their half-century-year-old rights being ripped away and don\u2019t think that these deeply personal decisions should be controlled by politicians,\u201d said Colin Seeberger, senior adviser for communications at the Center for American Progress.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is the message that in every single state was a winning message,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to a memo released by the House Majority PAC, out of the 211 television ads the Democratic group ran in 2022, 103 hit on economic issues, while 89 mentioned abortion.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Additionally, the group also wrote in a memo that it conducted\u00a0an abortion ad test project in August, which found that its best-performing ad \u201cwas a contrast that frames the races as \u2018a Democrat cares about the economy while the Republican wants to ban abortion\u2019.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 2022, Republicans refused to take abortion and reproductive freedom as a serious issue, all while pushing for a nationwide abortion ban,\u201d House Majority PAC Communications Director C.J. Warnke said in a statement to The Hill. \u201cVoters responded with a resounding no, rejecting Republican extremists and standing for personal freedom. House Majority PAC knew this was an effective, winning message and will continue to highlight Republican extremism on abortion until access is protected in all 50 states.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Democrats are hoping to keep the issue in the spotlight in 2024 federal races, the salience of abortion access as a campaign issue will again be tested in next month\u2019s Georgia Senate runoffs and in next year\u2019s General Assembly races in the purple commonwealth of Virginia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Georgia Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker has voiced his support for a 15-week national abortion ban. He previously expressed support for a total ban on the procedure without exceptions but has since voiced support for measures restricting abortion that contain exceptions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Still, Democrats are hoping to use the issue to hit Walker on the campaign trail.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is more a testament to Herschel Walker\u2019s extremism that he supports a national ban on abortion without exceptions,\u201d Seeberger said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But Walker is still getting hefty support from anti-abortion groups, including Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, which has pledged to spend at least $1 million to support Warnock in the runoff.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWalker\u2019s support for compassionate limits on abortion aligns with the people of Georgia and the overwhelming majority of Americans, in stark contrast to \u2018activist pastor\u2019 Warnock\u2019s radical position of abortion on demand until birth, paid for by taxpayers,\u201d the group\u2019s president, Marjorie Dannenfelser, said in a statement earlier this month. \u201cOur ground team will continue to visit voters at their homes to expose Warnock\u2019s extremism and urge them to elect Walker as their champion in the U.S. Senate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile,\u00a0Virginia Democrats are already planning for next year\u2019s 2023 General Assembly elections, with a new political action committee aimed at funding abortion rights candidates. Roe Your Vote Virginia launched one day after Election Day. The group plans to spend $1 million on competitive state Senate and House of Delegates contests.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVirginia is one of those rare places where we have elections every year, so it\u2019s always a good bellwether to see what h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ens in \u201824,\u201d said Gianni Snidle, a spokesperson for Virginia\u2019s Democratic Party.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And despite Virginia\u2019s next elections taking place in an off-year in the lead-up to the 2024 presidential primaries, Democrats say that Republican efforts to pass abortion restrictions in Virginia will provide enough motivation to get voters to the polls.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur work is already done for us because these Republicans keep introducing these bills,\u201d Snidle said. \u201cThe only reason why it stops is because we have a one-seat majority in the Senate.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr5_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Virginia Democrats are also working to keep the issue elevated in the state legislature. On Monday, Virginia\u2019s congressional delegation\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/mceachin.house.gov\/sites\/mceachin.house.gov\/files\/McEachin%20VA%20Delegation%20Letter%20on%20Reproductive%20Rights.pdf\">penned a lette<\/a><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/mceachin.house.gov\/sites\/mceachin.house.gov\/files\/McEachin%20VA%20Delegation%20Letter%20on%20Reproductive%20Rights.pdf\">r\u00a0to the legislature\u2019s<\/a> Privileges and Elections Committee calling on state lawmakers to enshrine abortion rights into Virginia\u2019s constitution.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI received a letter from the Virginia US Congressional Democratic Delegation to advance legislation to codify reproductive freedom at the state level,\u201d\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenLSpruillSr\/status\/1595087979369865216?s=20&amp;t=rrSk0wFmBWHeiMeZY6HHLg\">twee<\/a><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenLSpruillSr\/status\/1595087979369865216?s=20&amp;t=rrSk0wFmBWHeiMeZY6HHLg\">ted\u00a0state Sen. Lionell Spruill (D)<\/a>. \u201cI do intend to make sure this happens and is voted out of the [Privileges and Elections] Committee I chair.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This dynamic is also set to play out in state legislative sessions across the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI suspect that many of these states will be considering their own abortion-related legislation and I think that that will be ripe for drawing attention to Republicans\u2019 extremism on pushing these radical bans,\u201d Seeberger said. \u201cAlso at the same, that will be a springboard and catalyst for activists to remain engaged.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
