\n From the right: Joe\u2019s Words Don\u2019t Match Agenda<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the DNC this week, Joe Biden vowed to unify the nation, yet that\u2019s \u201cincongruous\u201d with his agenda, which represents \u201cthe most sweeping liberal changes\u201d in US history, observe the editors at the Washington Examiner. During the event, there were \u201cconstant reminders\u201d of who he\u2019d be working with: social<\/a>ist Bernie Sanders and radical lawmakers Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. His running mate, Kamala Harris, \u201chas one of the most liberal voting records in the Senate.\u201d And Biden himself proposes \u201ctrillions\u201d in new taxes and a \u201cgovernment-run health care plan.\u201d There\u2019s a lesson here from Barack Obama, who ran in 2008 \u201cas a post-partisan figure while proposing a transformational agenda. By the end of his presidency, he was boasting that he had a \u2018pen and phone\u2019 and was governing by executive order.\u201d<\/p>\n

Iconoclast: Biden Got It Just Right<\/strong><\/p>\n

Joe Biden\u2019s acceptance address was \u201cthe most important speech of his life\u201d \u2014 and he \u201cnailed it,\u201d cheers The Week\u2019s Damon Linker. Americans saw a \u201cplainspoken, patriotic man deliver a tribute to the country and the people he loves\u201d while harshly rebuking President Trump. His comments about the pandemic, Trump\u2019s \u201cfailures in fighting it\u201d and his \u201cown promise to defeat it\u201d crucially \u201chit the president at his most vulnerable spot.\u201d Most important, he \u201cspoke clearly, passionately and lucidly about the country, without any hint of the geriatric incapacity the Trump campaign has been alleging.\u201d Whether or not Democrats win in November, they \u201ccan know that their nominee made the best case he could when it counted.\u201d<\/p>\n

DNC journal: The Rockefeller Democrats<\/strong><\/p>\n

This week\u2019s Democratic convention was really one of \u201ctwo different parties,\u201d argues Daniel McCarthy at Spectator USA. One \u201cis a party of woke activists entirely concerned about race, sexuality and environmentalism,\u201d with no interest in \u201ctraditionally major issues such as jobs and national security.\u201d Then \u201cthere is the other Democratic party \u2014 or rather, the other Republican party.\u201d Because astonishingly, half the \u201cconfused convention\u201d seemed \u201cto be handed over to liberal Republicans of yesteryear. This doesn\u2019t feel like the party that almost nominated Bernie Sanders; it feels like the party of Nelson Rockefeller.\u201d Both parties want \u201cgovernment services to palliate their suffering,\u201d with Joe Biden \u201can improbable Messiah.\u201d The Dems\u2019 \u201cpropaganda videos\u201d suggest \u201cBiden himself is the vaccine for COVID-19, ready to be shot into your veins the moment he\u2019s inaugurated.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conservative: Advice for the RNC<\/strong><\/p>\n

For all the Hollywood talent Democrats had at their disposal, the DNC proved to be a \u201cboring infomercial\u201d that was \u201cflat-out unwatchable,\u201d quips David Marcus at The Federalist. An ex-stage manager, Marcus says the problem was Dems \u201cmade it a movie\u201d when it needed to be \u201ca theater production.\u201d Republicans can do better. First, they need an audience, people reacting to speeches. And \u201cfeature the fan base\u201d \u2014 real Americans. Make it joyful: The DNC message, he snarks, was basically \u201cAmerica sucks\u201d but \u201cwill suck slightly less\u201d if Biden\u2019s elected. Republicans should be \u201cproud of our country.\u201d They should \u201cgive us music, dancing, empty champagne bottles.\u201d Truth is, it would be hard for the GOP not to do better. \u201cSo let\u2019s do this. The country is ready for some fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Media watch: Hypocrisy Over FBI Spying<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lawyers are known to \u201ccover all bases,\u201d especially FBI lawyers, contends Kyle Smith at National Review. So what ex-FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith did should make your mind \u201creel.\u201d To get a warrant to surveil ex-Trump adviser Carter Page, Clinesmith doctored an e-mail to imply that Page was spying for the Russians. Yet the press has tried to downplay his guilty plea, even suggesting he acted \u201cinadvertently.\u201d It\u2019s \u201cthe usual playbook\u201d when Democrats are caught in a scandal: It\u2019s \u201ca minor breach of the rules, nothing to get excited about.\u201d But the story \u201cought to inspire outrage.\u201d Would CNN and The New York Times think it no big deal if \u201cDonald Trump\u2019s FBI were currently spying on members of the Biden campaign based on a spurious pretense\u201d?<\/p>\n
