Hakeem Jeffries not feeling love from left&#8221;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>The far left wing of the Democratic Party isn\u2019t feeling the love for Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, the favorite to become House Minority Leader.<\/p>\n<p>The Democrat, who represents parts of Brooklyn and Queens, is a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus \u2014 but unlike more radical members of his party, he does not back defunding the police and supports Israel.<\/p>\n<p>He had tried to distance himself from the \u201chard left,\u201d telling The Atlantic last year that \u201cThere will never be a moment where I bend the knee to hard-left democratic <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a>ism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And he said during a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/08\/04\/us\/politics\/biden-democrats.html\">2021 interview<\/a> that the \u201cThe extreme left is obsessed with talking trash about mainstream Democrats on Twitter when the majority of the electorate constitutes mainstream Democrats at the polls.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>State Sen. Alessandra Biaggi\u2019s primary challenge to Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney. Maloney went on to lose his seat to Republican Mike Lawler in a major defeat for the party.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JabariBrisport\/status\/1593982599369617409\">Brisport added<\/a> that Jeffries \u201cdecided to endorse against a sitting progressive State Senator (Robert Jackson)\u201d and that \u201cDemocrats who lie about their intentions in order to attack the left wing of the party should not be confirmed to lead it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He declined to comment further on the tweets.
